Just curious,
I know the new 06 belt can go and go for many many miles but I wanted to know if anyone has any input as to what the possible signs are that your belt is about to snap and leave you hangin' in the middle of nowhere?

Great question. With not replacement interval given, we are left to wait until it breaks.

Even metal chains need replacement, so I would imagine belts do too.

Just check it for cracking or fraying...if you don't see any, keep on truckin'.

'03s had two different belts, '04s got a new one, and now '06s did as well? I'm so out of the loop...the '04s had a replacement listing of 30K, I thought. It's not like they're really that expensive. If you make it that far, why not buy a new one just for peace of mind and then keep the old one in the rafters somewhere 'just in case'? That's what I did with mine at 15K (the original '03 replacement point) even though it was still in great shape (since I spoke all nice and pretty to it, unlike Glitch).

...I should probably note that I've never removed my beltguards, as many are wont to do. Sure, they aren't the most aesthetically pleasing part of the bike, but they are there for a reason, ya know. ; )

The first belt on my Uly broke at 7700 miles with no warning. It was replaced under warranty

The second belt was replaced at my expense due to an embedded stone the size of a BB. The dealer would not replace it untill it failed completly.

Kind of frustrating considering it could leave me stranded at any time or anywhere with apparently zero warning.
