Howdy!
I am considering financing an 06 XB12R at Buell Dealer in Austin,TX with $7500 down.
Mainly due to a lack of quality one-owner 04/05 used XB12R in my area. Plus, I tend to keep my motorcycles for 10 years or more and would like the 06 improvements. I noticed one dealer offering $500 coupon as an incentive.
Any suggestions would be appreciated on getting some extras thrown in on the deal (dropping the set-up fee, new helmet, gear, oil, and what have you).
Thank you very much!
PS: Great forum, keep up the good work!

I got my dealer to throw a $500 Arai helmet in with my deal on an XB12Ss and I didn't put any money down. With a down payment of that size, I would push for a free helmet, no set-up fee, and maybe your 1000 mile service for free too.

07 models are being released in less than 3 weeks.
That will make the 06's yesterdays news as far as the showroom is concerned.
Don't be afraid to play that to your advantage.

Also give DaveS a shot at making you a deal.

Actually the dealers want you to finance. They make a % of the financing interest. So a big down payment isn't helping them.

finance it to get a deal done, and then pay off the loan early with your big down payment money

Thank you very much for your responses! Buellgirlie, are you saying I should use a much smaller down-payment, because the dealer likes that more (and may throw in more goodies), then use the remainder of my cash to pay it off early?
Also, how can DaveS help me when since I am in Austin, TX and he is in Wisconsin?

The dealer here took $1000 off without blinking an eye or me even pushing real hard. I paid 8,200 for an 06 lightning couple weeks a go.

I would definitely get in touch with Daves. He has helped guys from all over.

He buys Buells from other dealers and just recently listed a bunch of them at very attractive prices. Several of them sold right away. If I remember correctly, he had some 2004 and 2005 bikes in the mix.

With the 2007's being announced in one or two weeks, I certainly would not buy a 2006 without talking to Daves first.

His phone number is 920 757 1651. I believe he is off Sunday and Monday.

when i financed my bike they gave me an 18% intrest rate, funny hoy the payment went down for every year i took in a waranty. Anyways finance the bike with them then pay it off!! Or finance the rest through your bank.

Thanks for all the advice! I really appreciate it. I can't believe how many 06 XB12 Firebolts the dealer in Austin has. I don't see how they will ever sell them all.
Other Texas area dealers, still want $10,000 for leftover 04 and 05 XB12Rs which is silly!

Yeah, I'm calling BS also. I'd buy one without flinching for that price. Lets see a copy of the invoice as proof.

Duck, Glendale wouldnt deal with me on an 05 12R when the 06 just came out so I said forget it. I called around for the 06 and when I found it California HD/B didnt really deal with me on an 06 heck they didnt even want my CBR as a trade in but I was somehow able to get a $230 gift card out of them and two Buell t-shirts.
I would wait to see what 07 has to offer, I would say your best bet is to bargain on accessories and not the bike.

Man, the dealer down here in Corpus Christi, has liek 6 Uly's in stock..making me drool...

Second, they have 04s' adn 05's, demos, and are still wanting like 10,500-11,500 for them...

This is also the same dealership I walk into, and they just hand me the parts book, adn let me alone till I give them part numbers...they dont bother trying to b/s me(I also grab the sporty book)....

I had one guy there tell me, the gaskets werent the same...like I said, after talking to the GM there, they just give me the book now, and let me alone : )

Oh well, believe me, if I could get a sweet deal on a XB, i would be all over it. but being a broke active duty type, with less than perfect credit, its impossible...

But, Buelgirlie is right, deal with them FIRST, then pay it off ASAP...

Chase

DuckBuell, I'm waiting to see what comes out for '07. Then I'm going to decide if I want an '06 or '07.

The dealer here in Santa Fe had a tent sale last weekend and had 4 new '06 XB12Rs for $8997, which I thought was a good price.

Brad.

So far the Austin Dealer has offered me the Red 06 XB12R for $10,000 and a $300 gift certificate. The other Austin dealer is saying $9,750 for a Black 06 XB12R. But I want a Red one!

Ridesinnm, Thanks! I will be calling Santa Fe on those 06 XB12Rs.
Also, since I have shown myself that I can come up with the $ to buy a bike and haggle with a dealer, I suddenly feel empowered!
I was also neauseated by one dealers cheezy sales tactics.
Thus, I am waiting until September to see if prices drop.
One dealer is sounds like they may want to dump their Buells!
I may still even go out of state, if the price is right. So I feel like time is on my side. So I am going to be patient and shop around more!

I'm also waiting for the new '07 models to see is there are going to be major changes. If there aren't, then I'll just buy a '06 12R. A local dealer offered me a special deal when the '07 models come out, but I'm going to purchase mine from Liberty/Rahway, if they also give me a good deal. One thing I just learned is not to pay cash for the bike - that was my plan until I started reading what others were saying.

The place with the lowest price may not be where you'll get your best deal.

I always take flack for saying that, and I'm as cheap as anybody, and poorer than
most (disability with 3 kids is no picnic) so I know what tight finances are all about.

The idea is that a dealership that believes in service and the brand may not be the
cheapest, but you will get the most for your dollar from them. Dealerships like
Appleton, Liberty, Stone Mountain, and others are worth considering. Even if a shop
like Ocala can undercut them on initial sale price.

Those cheaper shops will not be there for you if you need service after the sale, or
technical answers or help.

I'm donning my asbestos undies now

Ok went to my local stealership, Yes I was wrong. The 12's are 8999.00 and the 9's are 7599.00 (Including a SWEET Black SX) the ulys are 10999.00. They are 06 models, one of the 12's is an Orange S Long, it was pretty nice too. The salesman said they would be that price till they "Reduced their inventory" LOL.

Diablobrian, I totally agree with you! I would rather get my bike from a dealer that won't leave me out in the cold when the time comes for service or repairs!

Buddy of mine, L48Shark bought three bikes from a dealer that was "dropping out" for $6500/piece. He said some cat was buying a V-Rod, and he bought three bikes for under what the V-Rod guy was paying. Wheeee!!
