how much does the software cost, and where can it be purchased?
Does it also come with the related cables to plug into your ECM?

Ok guys'...What is the software? Does it have associated cables? How much cash? I've got a Ducati Mathesis engine diagnostic kit (about $5k) good for only Ducati though.Incidentally,i can also(in addition to the Mathesis) check my (DUC)TPS with a multimeter. Also helps to have a vacuum gage to balance the bodies, and a gas analizer for mixture trimming. This stuff gets complicated. But for a simple Buell TPS reset how much is the cost of admission?

Ok i found it.$195? not bad.You can adjust mixture with it? Really though, doesn't this begin to enter the realm of datalogging/gas analizer equipment?

I have the software, I bought it to reset my tps after installing my race ecm. Was really easy! the dealer wanted $108!

Ducxl: the software is a "scan tool" you
can reset the "mixture" to base programing.
it is not a gas analyzer.

I'm in northern RI if anyone needs a tps reset PM me.

VDSTS is the Diagnostic tool. TPS, AFV, and trouble code resets and display, some subsystem tests, and as of this week, it now displays the AFV. That new addition is most welcome. See http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F7827572&rnd=2119 748&rrc=N&affl=&cip=69.160.135.44&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=9305&cat=&catstr=

If you want to do mapping, you need DirectLink, not VDSTS. It lets you adjust the spark and fuel maps. It will also do TPS and AFV resets. Not for the meek, you need the proper wideband senosr systems and a dyno is recommended to use it. See http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F7827572&rnd=2119 748&rrc=N&affl=&cip=69.160.135.44&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=9305&cat=&catstr=

I should be receiving my race kit later this week. The dealership wants to charge $65-$80 for TPS reset and I may have to leave my bike there because they've been having problems with resets recently and they are very busy. I don't care to leave my bike.

3 questions:

1) Can the exhaust be installed by itself? What effects on performance should I expect if I do so?

2) How far could I ride with the new parts before performing a TPS reset?

3) Is there anyone close to Frederick MD with the VTDS software willing to help me out?

I rode around 100-200 miles before the TPS reset with the exhaust and filter in place.

ATTENTION COLORADO BUELLERS,
The software and microprocessor package has arrived from Al at American Sport Bike. I am now ready to do a hands on session on TPS setting. As soon as I can coordinate with some tech-savvy fellow-Bueller to lead the workshop I will post an announcement. I live in Boulder, have a garage with a lift, tools, laptop and workshop manual. So, don't be bashful you software engineers out there, send me a PM or an email and let's start having fun and helping each other.
Rick
