OK, so I have about 7,000 trouble free miles on my 12r. I have been averaging about 115 miles per tank before my low fuel light comes on. Over my last two tanks it has increased to 140 miles. Now, 140 seems alot more reasonable than 115 given my fuel capacity, however, I am a little worried since 115 has been constant whether on the autobahn at 120 or in the states at 65. Anyone else experienced this?

I'm only getting about 140 miles to low fuel with my Ss (3.8 gallons)... low 40s MPG vs 65 rated and it didn't change with the 1000 mile service. Now at about 3000 and it is steady with mostly freeway commuting at 70-80; and it doesn't seem to change when fun riding. Did get just over 50 MPG the first two tanks during break in. Not bad mileage but not what is advertised; hope I get your sudden increase at some point.

I've got an 04 XB12R with just over 5K on it and I'm lucky if I get 100 miles per tank. I'm looking for gas around then because I know my fuel light is comin on real soon. Then again I don't exactly ride like grandma, ya know. It is what it is I guess and thats what it is! I would love to get 140miles on a tank full. I've had several CRUISERS that would do that easily. But this is a sportbike and its not made for long hauls supposedly. Daytona Beach and back on about five tanks of gas I think. Hauling me, a full backpack and stuffed saddlebags at an average speed of 80 or 85 mph with several burst over 110. Ehhhhhhh.

Mr. Buba the English professor can't even spell his name "Bubba" correctly. Or, is meant to be pronounced booh-bah like the funny teletubby-like characters my daughter watches on PBS Kids (see http://www.boohbah.com). I'm sure booh-bah-byu-el will correct me for starting my last sentence with a conjunction.

Anyway, in response to the original post, it may have a lot to do with how you fill up. Do you fill with the bike straight up or leaned over on the sidestand? Did you change at some point?

A young inner city chap gets a full scholarship to Harvard. One day as he is walking across the quad he sees a professor and asks, "Could you tell me where the library is at?" The professor replies, "My good man, at Harvard we do not end our sentences with prepositions." The young man thinks for a second and then replies, "OK. Could you tell me where the library is at, A$$hole?"

well, when I first put on my Odie Pipe and Race ECM. I got like 70 to the tank. But now, I think everything has been set and it is like 123 to the tank.. I am only guessing cause at 115 the light doesn't even come on. But with stock.. the light came on at 115. so.. I think I am doing pretty good.

been riding the heck out of my buell last few days, I am so proud.. i finally got a block long wheelie in 2nd gear!!! WOot.. i couldn't get it up in second.. now I know how to.. and I even got a boot on due to a broken ankle..

But anyway.. things are good.. still waiting for my Gixxer 750 to get done..
*rebuilt tranny
*new front tire to match back new one
*new brakes
*dyno'd
***Stuff doing myself
*New paint (Sapphire Blue)
*New OEM Headlight (other one was broken and cloudy with burnt spots
*Remote LED Lighting kit (blue)

Yeah, sorry got sidetracked. But it's going to be sweet when I get done with it. It gets 135 to the tank or so. Does pretty well but also is pretty comparable to the CityX cause smaller tank difference.

The Buell.. love it.. i just need to buy a new tank cover for it and some left side plastics.. even though they aren't scratched that bad. but have to have a sheer look. so oh well.

blah blah blah.. rambling on and on.. at work on a Saturday.. ugh.. take it easy people..

When I first bought my XB12S I was only getting about 85 miles before the gas light came on... now after about 1500 miles It comes on around 115 miles... I ride pretty hard but haven't made any performance modifications. I know you have many more miles than this so why am I even replying? Who knows.

Thanks for all the responses guys.
BRINEUSAF-I am not in Germany anymore, was stationed in Schweinfurt(pigtown) for about 4.5 years. Now , unfortunately, I am in L.A.(lower Alabama). Hard to go from the Alps to riding here.
I fillup the same way everytime, bike straight up, last fillup was 2.667 gallons at 139. That is about 52 mpg, and those are not easy miles. Prior to that, my light would come on at about 115 miles, however, when I would fillup, it would take right about 2.2- 2.3 gallons. I guess the next step is to ride it out of gas, with a chase car of course, to see exactly what I can get on one frame full.
BTW, this is my second buell with no problems, my previous X1 now has 25k on it, only problem the shock blew. And for those who have not done it, the 12 motor performs flawlessly at 120+ for extended periods of time. I love my 12r.

How much is left in the tank (how far can you go) after the light comes on, on an Ss.

The Ss tank is 3.8 gallons to light on and 4.4 gallons full. At just over 40 MPG I'm holding to 20 miles max with the light on right now so I've got a range of about 160 miles. Expected something over 200 miles, I'd held off buying until the larger frame/tank came out. I plan to buy something to reset the TPS and read the AFV from American Sport Bike and try different riding styles after resetting to see what happens. BTW, mechanicals all stock for now.
Cool, type in the initials and the sponsor name shows in the posting...

Actually it's what my 3 year old calls my Buell, Buck.

And I get 40mpg on average. Sometimes 46+ on long trips.}

My bike has 18.5K miles on it, with a race chip, hi-flow filter and loud drummer: I have been getting 170-175 miles out of 3.1 gallons commuting to work on a daily basis, mostly freeway.

170 miles from a 3.1 gallons = 54.8 miles per gallon. Either you do drive like grandma or someone should call Ripleys.

50 mpg plus is not unusual for highway miles. Every time I go on the road with my 9S, I get that much. I look for gas around town at 120 miles, on the road I can usually hold out for 145 to 155 and that's with the 3.7 gallon tank. Reserve light comes on with about 1 gallon left, takes about 2.7 to fill every time I wait for the light.

Heh. The snappy Southern comeback to that is "OK, where y'at . . . A.H.?"

Around town I average about 42 mpg riding hard. Even at superlegal speeds on west Texas highways, I still get mileage in the 50 mpg range.

P.S. our posted legal maximum for the highway 80 MPH.
