I run full synthetic in my 2006 XB12R and sometimes feel clutch slipage. In the previous years you needed to change the clutch spring to fix this. Do you still have to do that on the 2006? Anyone know if a stiffer clutch spring is made for the 2006? | ||

wasn't this asked earlier today? You need to run the new H-D tranny fluid. It was formulated to give the clutch more grip. If you put in the heavier clutch spring you'll lose one of the design improvements of the 06, the lighter clutch lever pull. | ||

Ok, on the other copy of this thread you said that shift quality is the reason for wanting the synthetic in the tranny. You may need to change some parts in the clutch to revert it back to older style springs and ball/ramp assembly. Did you adjust your primary chain before switching to synthetic to see if your shift quality could be improved that way? Hey, I'd be willing to swap parts with you to get the lighter clutch pull if you wanted to do that. Assuming you have the clutch spring tool, or can gain access to one to do the swap on your bike. | ||

The chain was adjusted aand the shift is just better with the synthetic. I tried the HD stuff and it just wasn't as good. I believe that I do have the same style, but the clutches and steels are different in my bike. Is there an aftermarket spring? The earlier bikes had a factory Hi-po spring. Can I just buy the early heavy clutch spring? I have never had then apart to compare the two. |
