Well the XB12Ss will be ready today (had to get it in from the warehouse in another province) but the Dealership here has been excellent... they gave me a Uly to ride until mine came in :-)

I've ordered some stuff from American Sportbike but I have a question on the break-in. I've read the manual and searched the site here for information and correct me if I'm wrong but the general consensus is to follow the procedure in the manual......just want to make sure before I start to put the miles on it...

Congrats on the new bike. My guess is that the "consensus" on break-in is evenly divided. Half the people say break it in by the book and the other half will tell you to break it in using the "Motoman" method (basically warm it up, ride it hard and change oil often).

The procedure in the manual does look really painful. The trouble is both methods make sense...I agree with the varying the RPM and not lugging the bike but keeping it under a certain speed really doesn't make any sense to me

I broke my Buell in as per the manual. I did the same for my Laverda (32 years ago)and it's holding out great!

I broke mine in by the book and I almost never move it before one minute of warmup... Two in the winter.

It's been great for 22K miles so far...
