personaly ive wanted to hang a hammer loop on my bike for years i tell my kid about the ole days when gmpa had a ball pean hammer on his bike for just such occasions...havent dont it yet but a few more clueless cagers should get me there....i wonder if my insurance covers taking the mirror off an idiots car....i do try to make sure they remember me when they do something stupid...most look real guilty when i pull up alongside and shake my head at them....we have to remember people drive cars like everybody else is driving one too...when we drive our cars a close call dosent seem so close belive me i see it everyday where i work fender benders happen all the time when a car hits a cars most times its not a big deal..when a car hits a bike it turns into a big deal real fast....usualy it dosent have anything to do with someone not seeing a biker...they just dont look for another driver period....they dont single us out they just drive bad....looking for bikes should be part of the driving test....ive had more close calls than i can count one or two with my kid on the bike....ive stopped in front of a car that almost hit me and gotten off my bike and explaind the merits of paying attention and that they could of taken a 13 year old girls life along with mine...that driver felt really bad and i bet watches for bikes more than she changes her underwear now.... |

You are invisible on a bike, Get used to it. live with it. Try to avoid being killed by it. That being said when I was young I thought taking a mirror off a car would "educate" the driver. Age has told me that is not true. In fact they are more likely to take out their frustration on the next biker that rides by (read this as ME!). Give them a good hard look but be the bigger man and ride on. This may be hard to believe but it may educate the driver in proper manners. Maybe the next time they will think that instead of going off they should control themselves. Kinda like that motorcyclist they almost killed and then flipped off but the dude kept riding......................... Hmmmm Maybe I am an . Maybe there are some out there more evolved than I.............. Maybe those motorcyle guys are not all dicks.......................................................... |

"The officer sited him for: Failure to yield Reckless driving while merging Reckless endangerment Failure to observe posted(painted)roadway warnings and a couple other things." Now that's the kind of story I like to hear!!! I can hardly believe it, though... it's like some kind of wonderful fantasy come true. Why isn't there a cop around when this happens to me? Must not be living right or something... |

BenM2-I can relate to your wife's story, I used to ride a bicycle everywhere when I lived in Albquerque. A broad threw a coke can out of her window, at me probably not, but for some reason I got pissed and caught up with her and her boyfriend at the next light. Getting ready to give her a piece of my mind when I looked in and saw what looked to be a 9mm laying between the two of them on the front seat...I just moved to the sidewalk and kept pedaling...first post was/is funny tho... |

"A broad threw a coke can out of her window, at me probably not, but for some reason I got pissed..." I had a kid in a Jeep spit some tobacco juice at me. Didn't have a clue I was behind him. It was a bad day to be him. |

A couple of weeks ago something like that happened to me. I was headed North on 249, (North West Houston) a 3 lane road. I was in the far left lane. Traffic was fairly heavy but flowing. I noticed a Chevy S-10 pickup in the far right lane slightly ahead of me put on his blinker and start to merge into the center lane. The thing is he didn't stop there and continued into my lane forcing me to get on the brakes pretty hard. I got on my horn an he swerved back into the center lane. At this point I am fine, shit happens. But when I go to pass him and look in his window he flips ME off with both hands!! What the F#$K?! That is when I got REALLY pissed. Naturally I threw a bird back at him and he then lifted both hands and motioned towards himself as if saying "Come on". I REALLY, REALLY lost it then and started pointing at him and waiving him to pull over. The hole time I was cussing him up one side and down the other, (which he couldn't see due to my helmet). He then swerved out of the middle lane to the right and made a quick right off 249. I was so mad I was shaking. I understand that things happen out there and I was cool at first. What I dont understand is how people can be such @#$% %$#@*& when they were at fault. |

Has anyone tried to put some air horns on their bike? I had some years ago in the old Rabbit Truck and every time I got on the horn it sounded like a big 18 wheeler. Makes me think I need to try and put them in the bike somewhere. Sure miss the air horns. |

A lot of people enjoy believing that they can't be at fault, and that they don't need manners. You see it every day just like I do. Any thing that goes wrong is because They have been wronged and are the victims of (name your favorite conspiracy). Personal responsibility is not as high on peoples' priorities as it should be, and it is quite evident in how we act towards each other, on the road or anywhere else. |
