I never see any actual people in the photos of bikes you post, 71sportster (xbfannow).

This means one of two things:

1) Nobody will ride with you, so you have to hold your own camera.

2) Those aren't your bikes at all.

Have fun travelling the entire eastern seaboard on your plethora of bikes that are all better than ours. Yours is a truly blessed existence.

I don't think most of you would know, or be able to ride a REAL motorcycle, if one came up and bit you on the ass!
So keep worshiping Erik and your beginners bikes, I'm going for a ride!

This is why you're a troll. Not for differing opinion, but for your inability to communicate without digging yourself so far into a hole that you have to make up new usernames to come to your own aide.

Doesn't it bother you just a little bit that you can't back up a single claim you make? It has to be a little tiring hiding behind ~10 different screen names.

Mods, can we really not do anything about this?

The reasons I love my Buell is because it is an "old tech", slow, antiquated, "Harley" powered, "POS".

Nothing delights me more than running it up the tailpipes of my sportbike riding buddies with my "Harley". LOL!

Yeah, they will leave me for dead in the straights, but in the corners, it's more about the rider than the bike.

There is only so much power you can safely use on the street. That's why of my two bikes, my Buell is my "fast" bike...it may be putting 85hp to the ground. That's more than enough for the street unless you don't know how to carry speed into a corner and have to have 160hp to catch up in the straights. Then I could see you needing a Gixxer.

I'm not a racer, so why would I want to ride a race bike? Riding a race replica bike fast is not a challenge. Riding a 500lb "adventure" bike with a Harley motor fast takes talent.

Xbfannow what is your real bike? Just Curious?

A good percentage of the ricer crowd are 100% worse when it comes to their brand and kissing their companys asses. Lets not even get started on all the posers and squids in asian sport bike scene.

Buell does get dogged in the sport bike magazines.. Look who the bigger ad sponsers in the mags are too?

Does it bother me, not really.

Ted, Once again, I've got a '97 TL 1000S, an '84 RZ-350, an '04 RSVR Factory and an '04 XB12S.

I've also got a '57 Porsche Speedster & several other cars & trucks, would you like a DNA sample?
Might work even better than chlorine for cleaning up the gene pool in here?

EXACTLY!
And, the same rider on the better bike will be going thru those same corners, much faster!
For the sake of most on here, it's a damn good thing there a ton of squids out there on Jap bikes. It at least gives them something to talk about, like the guy who "blew off a Busa" in a thread here last week.
That must have been right after the aliens kidnapped the Busa rider!

You don't get banned for having a differing opinion. I've told you this numerous times. Others have told you this numerous times. You've seen others share your opinion without getting banned numerous times. What will it take for you to realize that your opinion is not what gets you banned?

Also, if you aren't insecure and don't have anything to prove, why do you keep attempting to prove how great you are? That's the easiest way to recognize your posts when you change usernames again- you brag about yourself, your material possessions, or your accomplishments. Most trolls are happy to bash and stir up trouble then they sit back and watch the flame fest. What sets you apart is your constant boasting in every other post.

Perry,

"I agree that there is a definite bias against Buell. The Buell is said to be underpowered, but somewhat torquey, while another naked bike pulls like a train, worlds of torque, etc. - then I start thinking maybe I should check that bike out and I read the specs - and it's significantly LESS hp and LESS torque than the Buell.

In short, the Buell has faults and I expect those to be reported. My gripe is that they don't treat all brands equally. After reading these four magazines for a few years now I think it is pretty clear - bikes with much less of the good get more positive reports than Buells. "

This was EXACTLY my point when starting this thread - THANKS for the clarification.

Not necessarily true. A Honda RC211V MotoGP bike is a better bike than my Ulysses, but put me on my Ulysses which I am familiar with then on the Honda, and I'm guessing I wouldn't be able to carve through the turns any quicker on the Honda. Remember, I'm talking STREET riding here. I have no use for a 250+hp MotoGP bike on the street. I don't have the skill to use it anyway (or the desire for that matter).

Riding my Buell is sort of like those guys who drive the dog crap out of Miatas. The little Mazda has NO power, and a Mustang or a Corvette will kill it in a straight line. But in the tight stuff, the Miata will be right there with the bigger cars. More work for the driver, but more rewarding too.

Give me your TL or your Mille and I'm sure I could ride them faster than my Buell, but at what risk? There are hazards on the street that don't exist on a track. I have a wife and a child at home, and going into a corner at warp speed only to find gravel, animals, etc, is not my idea of a good time. My Buell will go plenty fast enough to get me killed should I screw up, but it's relative low power output keeps my ego in check.

I'm not a card carrying, Buell-Aid toting, supporter of Buell. I think the bikes are inventive and different. I like that. I think they handle as good as anything out there (given my skill). Power is adequate. Maintenance is nearly non-existent. Fuel mileage is excellent. And my Ulysses is the most comfortable bike for my 6'5" frame that I've ever ridden. I couldn't fold up on a TL or a Mille to save my life (at least not for more than about 50 miles).

I still don't quite see the validity of this thread. If you like your bike, then ride it. If not, then sell it. Why do some people feel like it's their duty to tell others the bike they own is a POS and theirs is better?

I know people who enjoy riding Goldwings. That's not my bag, but I don't tell them that their bikes suck because mine is faster. What sort of logic is that?

More power to those of you carrying the Buell flag. Those who don't like them, that's fine too. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

If you love riding your Aprilia, that's wonderful, but that doesn't make it "better" that my Buell. Since comfort is a BIG factor in my liking a bike or not, I would put a Mille at the bottom of the "good" list for sure.

Different strokes for different folks. Thank God we have choices.

My wife just sold her 883 Sportster and bought a '91 Miata as her "fun" mobile.

The stock silver painted wheels are UGLY and we were just talking about painting them a different color.

I bought a Buell because I wanted a sport bike not a race bike. I did not want to have the same bike as every other person out there. What is it that makes people dislike Buell so much? It's just a sport bike that is a little different and I don't think I can beat Rossi with it. Does that make every one feel better? I like my XB9 and I don't think I can beat every ricer out there, so just let it go!

Nope, Konig Heliums with bronze finish. I'm not normally an aftermarket wheel guy, but these weigh 11.4lbs for 15x6.5" and are only $89 each from good-win-racing.com. They currently have the same wheel with a silver finish on sale for $79/each.

You see... Your ISP will have record of who they leased your IP to (and any others you've used). They can and will stop leasing IP's to you if an administrator of a website makes a good case... That's a good enough case right up there ;). On this side of it, an administrator can block IP /i{ranges} if they so chose.

Have a nice day. I recommend you delete those or you might be getting some mail (not e-mail). I've seen people lose their internet access all together. The terms of usage here at this website are pretty clear, and you've agreed to them a few times.

Good luck though...

I must have missed all the above - did the troll actually post some nudies as another of his ludicrous comebacks ???

I pictured him as an older guy wearing a "wife beater" t-shirt, 5-6 days stubble on his face, guzzling some cheap brew, while he "bragged" about all the bikes he owned and how stupid all of us were.

I'm guessing the guy didn't even own any of the bikes he talked about - probably last rode a Honda Rebel, or drove Gremlin.

Bottom line is, maybe he's gone forever ???

Next time he shows up, try not to rise to the bait.

wow, i haven't seen this much drama in a long time.

but hey.. its the internet.. it was bound to happen sometime.

But I will fit this in. When I go ride with my buddies. I ride my Gixxer 750.. so at least I can keep up on the super loop and etc.
When I am just cruising with my buddy with a 600 Katana.. I ride the Buell.. so he can keep up with me..

I love both bikes.. both are great.. And as far as i can tell, they are both perfect to me.. it's all about who is driving what, and what they like about the bike(s).

I enjoy riding. Not screaming at each other like teenagers on the internet. What's the point.

Is there a magazine out there for bikes that reviews them the way Consumer Reports magazine bases themselves?

I've heard a few negative things about CR, but their premise of no advertisement money and just straight out reviewing of products is a good theory.

I'm pretty sure if a magazine is accepting large amounts of advertising dollars from a bike manufacturer it would not be good financial politics to bash their product.

Doesn't mean it makes it right to bash buells, specifically, if they're not doing heavy advertisements...but money does seem to do some real sweet talkin'..

I hope this doesn't repeat anything, but it would take me a week to read this whole thread.

Look at the cycle world top ten that just came out. The Uly got the first honorable mention, and was called the best American motorcycle ever by one of the editors.

Also look at the old Motorcyclist review from when the CityX came out. Very favorable, as an urban assault bike.

You will never see very favorable reviews in a shootout or a review that compares the Buell to other sportbikes until the company steps up and designs a competitive engine (or, more likely, shops it out).

However, as a niche bike Buell has gotten respect.

While I get the impression that there is an obvious anti-Buell community out there I can't say much about the mags.

I love both my Buells, XBS '03 & '06, and everywhere I go with either, I receive favorable comments on the overall appearance, general design and sound of these bikes. Nothing negative to date.

They are great to ride and suite me just fine, I really don't care about negative reviews. I have found all of the Buell owners I've met so far to be outstanding folks. If this means we're a small community as a result, so be it.
