I am truly aware of all the options that I could purchase to modify my exhaust to increase performance. However, I am putting myself through school and money runs a bit tight. I remember hearing that you could modify your own exhaust to increase performance by simply re routing the flow, I believe. I am experienced in welding and metal work and would like to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction or verify that this is possible and how to actually re-route. Much appreciated! |

I modified mine with good results in the end,I started by cutting out the tubes that direct the flow through the 3 tubes, at each end of your muffler, but that was too loud, so I then gutted the whole muffler put a single 1"3/4 perf tube up the centre packed the whole thing with glass strand and feed it out the back same as std this isn't near as loud it only took a couple of hours and gives you a noticable increase on std but beware it might run lean...hope this helps |

There was a website that showed what 1 guy thought was a good modification. Personaly I'd be leery of cutting my pipe apart because without a dyno you are just doing it for noise which may damage your engine. |

i cut the nose open on mine, and just cut out the tube that the header runs into which allowed it to bypass most of the muffler but still wasn't straight pipe loud. didnt work to bad. ran it for about a year that way. although now i have run a D&D and currently a SS Drummer. |

For the most part the home mods you can do will not increase performance. They will increase the amount of sound, but TANSTAAFL. Wait a while save your money and do it right. You'll be glad you did. |

I cut a hole in the end of my pipe and then just jig-sawed out about a 3 inch peice of pipe that connected to the outlet hole and welded the end back together. Sounded cool but it seemed to lose alot of low end power. Swaped it for a jardine. |
