sometimes i kind of forget that im riding something a little different...i stopped by a friends house tonight and she had some people over and as soon as i got off my bike there was a crowd around....a lot of people goin wow what is that...why does it sound like a harley.....ya kinda forget once in a while why ya bought that funky sounding bike that jap bike riders seem to dislike so much....my buell has pissed me off more than once...seems like the break in period is a little rough especially for those of us that have never owned a buell before...but i havent had a problem with mine in over 2000 miles now..everytime i cursed my bike all i had to do is wait a little while get on the bitch and fire her up..and go oooh ya thats why i love her.....anyways there seems to be alittle buell bashing that goes on here and i just thought it was pretty cool to see people talking about my bike like it came from another planet but all really digging it....it was fun and reminded me why i ride what i do.

Ahh, the joys of owning an exclusive piece of machinery!
I was at my fave bike meet the other day with a mate who rides a YZF 600 and a guy came over to me asking all sorts of questions about the XB series. He had seen them at his local HD shop and felt the Urge! When i had finished giving him the specs, he was not the only one impressed with it, I was too! I thought to myself, OMG what a bike!!! Then a couple of days later my mate informs me he has booked a test ride on an XB. He said after listening to me sing the praises of my City Cross he just has to own one!! Ha HA HA, where do i get my commission?!?!?!

Well I shopped for a bike for 6 months or better. I sat on all of them duc's honda kaw suz yah aprilla truimph and the buell. Ya no harley......I have no interest in a geezer glide or a chrome testament to my wallet.

The buell is the only one that put that big stupid grin on my face sitting in the show room. Yep the old woody factor.

The trip that I bought it my wife took one look at me sitting on it and said "just buy the dang thing and get it over with....you wont be happy with anything else."

I could care less about people looking at me , but you are correct buells don't fit in with the rice rockets or the harley crowd.

That is fine with me...

"its kinda funny the only place that i find people that dont seem to like the buells are on forums like this..."

And, you'd think on a dedicated Buell forum, there would be FEWER Buell "haters" !!!

I would say that 85% of the people I have met while riding like the Buell, this doesn't mean they would buy it but they do appreciate what it is.

I had a guy say to me last night, "Oh, it's one of those Harley Davidson things, I thought it was a naked bike". The way he went on, made it sound as if he thought the company 'Naked' manufactured a motorcycle!! He mentioned the sound through him for a loop, he couldn't figure it out. He was amazed at the vibration as it sat on the side stand....I think he converted right there, all because of the sound!! Another shameless back slap to Kevin and the boys at KDFab.

I still dont understand why I got a nasty look when a GSXR came up behind me on an exit ramp. I even said hi but he just glared.

I know what you mean M_H, I ride to work most days, as do several other folks here.
There is an R6, an older Ninja 500, a Honda Shadow, and several other mixes.
When I walk out to get on the bike to go to lunch, or to head home, there are always people looking at the Buell.
The funny part is, most of them ask "What kind of bike is that??" (even though it is quite obviously printed on the airbox cover).
Pretty much everyone says "Man, that looks cool... I like how it is different from all the other bikes. What's it sound like??"
My grin goes ear to ear, I crank her up and let the Special Ops pipe sing... then the grin hits their faces as well.
It's a buelltiful thing!

My bike gets a lot of attention also. I just hate having to tell people what I ride and they have a look of confusion on their face. They ask me, What do you ride a yamaha, honda, suzuki? Buell doesn't exist in their realm. I'm glad Buell is doing all the marketing they are doing. Educating the public is a tough thing to do.

I feel the same as you guys. I get the same reaction from people most places that I go. I always get this, "that one of those new Euro bike from Germany" or "is that a new Ducati". Anyway I'm glad that I'm not on the typical cookie cutter.

our bikes and ourselves are the best advertising erick is ever gonna get....the number of people that have never seen a buell or heard one amazes me....the reaction they have is almost always the same one i had when i first heard mine fire up....the proverbial nail has been hit on the head....i think this thread can answer most of the buell bashing questions...i personaly didnt buy my bike to keep up with repli-racers i didnt buy my bike because i thought id be going 180 miles an hour every other day i didnt buy mine because i wanted a bunch ofhigh school kids to think i was cool and went fast all the time...i bought mine cause i knew id be riding to work everyday and goin to the store and hitting backroads whenever i got the chance...i wanted to bring a howitzer to a knife fight...and i wanted something that wasnt a GSXR/CBR/ZXR/R-1-6. i like my cannon you can have ur knife ur knife might be subtle and sleek but my cannon will leave behind bodies and bewildered people wondering what the hell just happend.

I stopped in a Quizno's Subs a few weeks back in my full gear, grabbin' a quick bite to eat. The cutie at the register said she had a bike too, a Ninja 250. I complimented it (I was seriously looking at those in the beginning), and told her I had a Buell. She looked at me blanky and smiled,"Oh yeah?" I said,"You've never heard of them, have you?" And of course, she hadn't. I'd hoped to give her a peek at mine (the bike, of course), but there were too many people in line. Ah, well, maybe next time!

I love the feel of the 1200, the rumble, instead of the "zip". That, and the fact that I can pass uphill in 5th gear. Torque rules!

My XB got looks and comments when it was new on the streets. Not now though. It's old news.

At the track the only attention I ever got as a result of the XB was semi-negative and certainly sarcastic. I thought they were just jaded until their jokes became my reality.

My dime-a-dozen pos rice rocket gets more attention anywhere it's seen than my XB ever did (especially at the track where it's seen 99% of the time).

Hey Swordsman,

I had a very similar exp. w/ my XB12. So I go into Starbucks across the street from the hospital that I work at and see a Ninja 250 in the lot. So I go in expecting to see some college kid in shorts and a t-shirt. I looked around and saw just these yuppie types then in the corner was this smoking hot gal w/ a backpack...It was her. I tell her I just got a Buell. Her eyes grew big. So I say to her,"would you like to take it for a spin?" She cant 'cause she is to short. "but you can take me for a ride." Im like 'sure' So the ever quick in the saddle thinking guy that I am came up with a plan to ensure that she KNOWS that Iam as cool as Steve McQueen. I take her an empty parking lot, and slide to the rear of the bike. She gets on and I become the voice activated kick stand. It was worth riding on the back of my own bike!

It never gets old does it!
We go to bike night every Thursday at the Vortex, and there's always people around our bikes.
I like it!

I had my S3T at a Harley run last weekend and it was probably the most looked at motorcycle there. I have it at a BMW event this weekend and it is attracting just as much attention.

Now if they'd just release an updated S3T with the Uly's bags a 31 inch seat height, and a 36amp charging system with the tall Rifle windshield...
