Just curious if anyone had done this. If so, what model was it done on? Was it worth the extra money to have a 6speed?

I'd be concerned with it weakening the trans. They'd have to make the gears too narrow to fit a 6 speed and with the amount of torque these things make, I'd think it would be very easy to blow the trans.

Works great for Tubers/Sporty's,,,believe that Lafayette has many thousands of miles on a Baker unit in S3.

The Baker unit is as 'bullet-proof' as your stock unit,,,will drop your RPM when running the slab,,,everyone that I know that has installed a Baker loves it.

XB,,,not applicable

Molly_hatchet,

I like to refer to that as "The Insurance Shift." Somedaze are worse than others,,especially if you spend a few hours on a 6 and then take out the Buell.

I, too, would like to see another gear for the XB line.

I expect the Company will give the Sportster/Buell engine a 6-speed before too long.

I remember hearing that when the Sportster got a 5th gear.

Remember though guys, metalurgy has come a LONG way in the last 20 years. Metals are stonger and harder and more durable then ever, and cane be made lighter with the same strengths.

A six may not be far out in the future for the XB...............

Roadrage, if you're bouncing off of the rev limiter in fifth then you should seriously
look at a chain drive so you can gear your bike taller. It'll be a lot cheaper than the cost
of a 6 speed tranny.

I guess you're right! These things sure could use another gear too. Only bike I've owned that I could hit the rev limiter in top gear.
Some more RPM would also be nice, as I'm constantly hitting the limiter just as the thing feels like it's starting to make power.
