I read that he was hurt pretty badly. Facial injuries, lost teeth, etc. I hope he will be ok.

Sounds like most of his injuries would have been avoided with a HELMET!

Hate that he crashed, but when you ride you accept risks. When you ride without proper gear, you accept greater risks.

He must have a few bikes. I saw him one time on a big ass Harley. The bike he wrecked is a sportbike. Some of those helmets that these Harley guys ride, you might just as well not even wear one!

hmmmm 24 years old............... Anyone besides me read the Hurt report?

I personally think he should have smashed his nads. Then he could not breed and the world would be a better place. Not a racist thing (added for Blakes clarification lol). I just think stupid people should not breed.

Stupid hurts.

I have zero sympathy, Why? NO HELMET!!!.

Football is stupid anyway. I was never able to be comfy around a bunch of men in shoulder pads patting each other on the arse while playing with pointy balls.............. Real men play rugby.

I live in Florida and write for several papers & magazines.
A couple years ago after Florida repealed their helmet law, I did a story on it.
The statistic, after being adjusted for new riders, Etc. was: Motorcycle fatalities went UP 27% the first year after the law was ratified.
The real irony was, the woman who was responsible for starting the grass roots referendum, was herself killed of head injuries, a month after the law was repealed.

Sky - not knowing his personal status (kids he may have whether known to him or not) - I am afraid that natural selection in the human species doesn't really play out logically. We are more like the spawning species in that if an individual organism has lower odds of surviving, then it tends to breed much earlier and more often than organisms with better survival odds.

Most cases, when people are removed from the gene pool due to stupidity, it's already too late - they've already spawned (I'm thinking there's a thesis somewhere in here)

Blake in some cases, absolutley, I just did not agree with his methods.

I would like to see the goverment offer 20,000 cash for any male (or female) that shows up and gets sterilized (and has no existing children). I think inside of 20 years we would see a huge drop in the prison population not to mention the number of 4th generation welfare recipients who would take the money rather than breed.

The program would have to be voluntary though. Anything mandatory wou;ld be hitler like

There is a woman who is getting accused of "Nazi" like attitudes. She has been offering women with drug addictions $5,000 to get their tubes tied.

Is it wrong to think that there are to many stupid people breeding?

WOW! I've given this topic thought as well and have seen many times that our 'breeders' are not necessarily the ones I'd pick to expand our species....

This would have major (and not necessarily positive) repercussions, but I agree it could be an improvement over stock.(HA! I had to get that one in there considering the shootout results were just released!)

Slaughter,

We are more like the spawning species in that if an individual organism has lower odds of surviving, then it tends to breed much earlier and more often than organisms with better survival odds.

I've never considered it that way. Brilliant!

Skyguy, I agree with you completely!!
I think people should have to pass some sort of test to have kids!
I mean, you need to pass a test to drive a car, truck, or bike. But anyone can have a kid?!
I'm sick of paying for everyone else's kids school programs, and watching all the "breeders" get huge breaks on their taxes just because they forgot to wear a condom!! I don't have any children putting a strain on the resources of this country, and what do I get for it? I get to pay more taxes!!

whew!! Sorry, I get worked up about that.

What were we talking about again? Oh yeah! Big Ben! Well I'm a Cowboys fan so.....
Seriously though, I'm glad he wasn't hurt worse. I don't wish that on anyone.

Abate was one of the heavy hitters new helmet law in florida.. I was looking at stats and deaths with and without helmets in florida were pretty even last year..

http://www.abateflorida.com/html/body_dot-statistics.html

I think the data is jadded how many people actually crash with a helmet and report it.. I think way to many unreported wrecks don't make their way into the stats..

DOT needs to stop passing Half Helmets.. Three quarters or half or nothing..

His accident can be considered a Non-Scheduled Public Service Announcement.

...a helmetless high profile athlete being seriously injured in a MC wreck will certainly raise awareness of the dangers of being helmetless, and maybe even convert a Non-Believer or two.

Exactly, Chainsaw. Let alone the news in states with out helmet laws will be full of "let's take a closer look at the law". You have, IMO, the right not to wear one. I have the right to call you a fool if you do so.

KowPow, What kind of negative effect would my pilot program have? Other than fewer employees at Burger King that is.......

Wait scratch that after amnesty is granted to the illegals that wont' be a problem either.....................

YEAH, like smart, successful "good" people all produce exemplary specimens of the homo sapien species.

Pick any royal bloodline, they all become pretty darn well useless after a half dozen generations or so and rife with disease and genetic disorders of one type or another.

NO THANKS, give me a good Heinz 57 mutt any day, give me "your wretched, your poor, your homeless" that is the iron that forged the steel backbone of this country. You can keep your effete, purebred royal bloodline polo players outside these borders, thank you very much.

I'm no fan of human breeding programs. Go to the Appalachian back woods, Mennonite, Amish or Quaker communities and see how inbreeding worked there for the last 100 years or so.

Hitler had it dead wrong, Jesse Owens and the good old mixed breed USA demonstrated that pretty clear enough over a half century ago.

I hate helmets but, I wear one. I'm sorry to hear anyone getting hurt on a motorcycle. I've lost several friends killed on motorcycles and seen 1 person killed and the other seriously injured on a motorcycle.
I do not wish Ben was injured.... Too bad he didn't get a scare that put a skid-lid on him. Now he's payin' for his un-wise choice of risk taking. The video looked like the bike was a 'Busa. His face musta hit the windshield pretty hard to stove it in... especially since it was near the passenger-bottom post. Missing teeth, broken jaw, screwed-up knees, 7in. gash in the back of his coconut. Ouch! Yep, I hate helmets but, I wear one, and I betcha he's wishin' he had one on too!

Curtyd, did you notice nowhere in the statement give me "your wretched, your poor, your homeless" does it include "give me your stupid"????

I am not pro selective breeding. I just think my pilot program would fix a lot of problems.

My other pilot program is not very popular either. I think we should fly B-52's over Iraq and spay the entire population with some sort of sterilizing agent. Then pull out and wait 20 years................

Oh and the other pilot program is "Use a gun go to dead".. Get caught red handed using a gun in the commision of a crime and wham one 22 bullet later the problem is solved. At a great reduction in taxpayer spending.

Can you believe I consider myself more liberal than not?

"You have, IMO, the right not to wear one. I have the right to call you a fool if you do so."

That almost sums up my political & religious attitude!

No helmet laws for me. The stupid should get out of the pool. I also just bought a new lid & almost almost never go without one when doing the dumb things I do that wearing a Helm is acceptable and needed.

That is to say, I don't wear a helmet for showering, walking in traffic or other likely locations where it's not an accepted thing to do. I can be a social wimp like anyone else.

I do wear one for Motorcycling, 99+%.
Bicycling, 85+%.
Hang Gliding, 100%.
Full contact martial arts weapons forms, tournament or open practice, 99+%.

That said, Damn I bet that hurt. Hope he heals well, & learns to wear a lid.
