Love the styling and look of the lightning and my only concern when i bought mine in 05 was that it looked a little small. Just my luck that they come out with a bigger one the next year! Anyways just wondering what the changes are. Could i make some mine the same with the longer swingarm.Would it be to pricey? Any suggestions on how to bulk up my bike would be appreciated! Thanx guys.

I'd imagine it would be pretty pricey. New Swingarm, Different belt, possibly longer brake lines.

On SS the frame is bigger and has a degree or two of more rake.. The swing arm is new for all 2006 bikes and I'm pretty sure they are the same size...

Damn Metric bike have all sorts of extended aftermarket swingarms for their bike.. I seen a few tubers with longer arms not sure if that was a kit or something people were making

longer wheel base is a function of a longer swingarm. not sure if all '06 bikes have the longer swingarm or not.

Only the XB12Ss and XB12X get the longer swingarm and bigger frame.

XB12S 21 degrees of rake
XB12SS 22 degrees of rake
More fuel capacity in SS due to different frame (same as Uly)
Longer swingarm for SS (as mentioned above NOT all bikes got this longer swingarm)

I love my SS - though I've never owned an S. I am 6' and didn't want such a stubby bike - so I didn't even consider Buell until the SS model came out. My friend (girl) sat on it as passenger and said it seemed pretty comfortable and roomy. Passenger seat is wider than my old Suzuki GS500 (what she had ridden before). Passenger space was another concern of mine.
Tough call being you already have an '05 S, but I like mine, good luck deciding

Don't buy until after July 31, if you can wait.

You will have a very hard time getting an '06 swingarm on an '05. The oil lines, fittings and locations are very different.

I also love my Long. I think it would be easier to convert a SsLong into a R. I have thought about it already myself. But I think Buell will come out with one this year or next at the latest. The XBRR uses the long frame and the longer custom swing arm. If I look at my long it has all the bolt holes on the frame for the front faring set up, so I know its possible to do, so you know that Buell has something up there sleeve.
