Well , Let me see...
Ride hard up to around 4500 rpms. then it seems its either Lean/Starving for gas, Orrr Fat/Too much gas....?
Sort of noses over and shift in 2nd. and same thing 4500 rpms, and over just seems like it wants to go but???
So what do ya all think???
She barks good when ya let off on it...
Weird..........What ya can`t do unless one has a dyno or another means to check the A/F etc.etc...

Check the fuel tank vent. Might be pinched off, or blocked. If by "barking" you mean back-firing, that's usually an indication of a lean running condition.

Yeah I`ll check that line good point... yes back -firing, could some expand on this , Always thought that was a sign of being Fat rich... and If it coughed through the intake was lean, Mine don`t cough though, just the backfires, But The D&D did that, also the Force , and now the Beson as well... YEah just seems like it Starving after 4500 same at 5500 and so on, Or like I said its too FAT rich...?

What do you have set up to fuel that Beson pipe?

I would say that your tuning is all out of whack.

The tuning is all outta whack... Any race pipe (Force, Beson) has a very different VE curve than the stock setup. The D&D is about opposite as well. Any pipe that generates good mid-range will not work well with the stock map.

Did this just start or did you just start to notice it? what was the last mod you did performance wise? roll on or at WOP?

Ok, list out what you are currently running on the bike.
That will help alot.

Just because it ran fine in a different configuration, does not mean that it will now.

Well three + weeks running good should not mean that the pipe mod has anything to do with it, I can see IF I put the Beson on and it ran like crap , But not run good for 3 plus weeks, anyways mods are the same as I have had on the Stock 12 header and force Muffler as follows...

TFI same settings as the last year...
all mods same for the last year BTW...RACE ECM,
Cut out inner air filter cover and Outer air box/Decal box Cut open, Revented head breathers to a Norris Catch can, other mods but Don`t come into the picture for engine performance..!

Like I say it hauls ASs up to 4500 or so and then past there its like it needs more gas or getting too much, And guess it could even be a BAttery amp thing have not checked that yet, I`m open for info...!

I keep thinking maybe the TFI needs turning But like I said it worked good for the past 3 plus weeks..
IF its lean then maybe the TFI will help As I do not have much on the settings now, But I`m not sure at this point if its LEan or Fat???

i had a similar problem when i switched pipes. all it needed was a tps reset. the bike ran fine for about a month then started acting up. did a tps reset and it was fine.(had the stock ecm). try that first and see what happens. keep us informed as to how you make out. GOOD LUCK!

Norris catch can! thats what I was looking for. this sounds more like a venting issue than a mapping issue. try cleaning it out and inspect the lines. better yet just remove it for testing then reinstall and drive the same test rout. I'll suspect that this is whats up.

Cruising around all is fine, But when I WOT say at 2500 or so and it reaches 4500 or so it sort of goes in Limp mode, Just like when you are finished with your OLd Lady, Or girl friend for that matter...

4500 happens to be the RPM range where the last pot on the TFI fades in... I'd say turn up the fuel on the top and see if it gets better. If not, turn it down.

See... If there's a significant difference in VE between the two pipes where you settled the AFV, it'll cause the rest of the map to be off...

Errr... The third pot maybe.... Whichever one adjusts the high RPM fueling...

Well TFi again, Oh my have not played with this for over a year anyways heres my pot settings.
Slash marks as counted from the off Dot position.
pot 1 = 3.5
pot 2 = 7
pot 3 = 6
pot 4 7.5
Now don`t make my brain Hurt M1..
Still not sure which way I am either rich or lean..based on the bikes actions once it hits 4500 rpms..

possible static timing issue. doesn't the advance kick in at around 4500rpms?

Hard to say though without having seen and heard the bike.

Just wonder I took the headers apart on the Beson and IF anything it looks like it may just be on the rich side carbon traces and some carbon black power etc. Perhaps may explain the BAck firing...So having said that wd. the TFI need to be lean out and if so what pots, IF its fine until 4500 rpms and up then goes flat???

Hmmm Static timing is that for those rpms, or just for idle static timing that is???
I thought the advance wd. kick in way down low ? Especially once WOT is on??

Unhook the tfi and do a wot run. See if this still happens. You have it turned up quite a bit on the high end for just airbox/pipe mods. Usually the race ecm will run things a bit rich by itself on the top end.

If taking the tfi off helps, lower the high end pot to nothing when you hook it back up.

Next step is to take it to a shop and get it tuned.

Hopefully this helps.

YEah that may be a good starting point , start without the tfi as it only adds fuel anyways....
No shop around here to get it tuned, have to do that myself...
High end pot is # ???? 3 or 4 ???
Just what do all these pots do from 1 to 4 ??

Also I guess IF I turn the four pots back to the off position then that wd. be the same as unhooking it all correct???

Hogs,
Turn your #3 pot back to #1 or as far back as it will go and try it there before trying to unhook anything. If it makes it better or changes anything you'll know you onto something.........Charlie

What ever changes you make the bike is going to have to relearn them.So you need to ride it above 4200 (I think) for several miles before you can judge what it is doing. All of your pots seem rich to me, but I've only dealt with the XB9 w/TFI
