Well it's finally happened, Opto is happy with Bindy Buell and her Megasquirt. No sluggish starts, no problems down low and looking forward to summer cause I don't think she will ping!
And with his mate from the USA he finally got it the size of a business card, small enough to fit under the seat!

It's taken 2 years and countless nights of discussion while I nodded feigning interest but, I now know about Skematics even if I don't know how to spell it,double puddles, what bits it takes to build a board, and how to live with a table that has just enough room for dinner plates.

Was it worth it? Boy I do not know, feeling a little bit insecure, I do not think I have made Opto smile like that!!!!

But hey I get to ride her, and boy does she sound and feel good!!!

Just not to sure what we are going to talk about now, guess I'll just have to go riding!

Congrats! We are thinking about doing a mega squirt on an S1 white here just to see how much we can put out. Full EMS really is the best way to go if you want to make big power with the current FI setup on the Buell. Please share a build report w/ problems and success stories.

Alright! That's great news. Give Opto a big pat on the back for me for a job well done.

Very nice... Maybe an even better solution than the DL. Rev limit changes : ).

What did you use for spark?

Edit-WHOOOPS-Bindy thank you very much for putting up with me and listening to my rantings, Megasquirt took a lot of effort and you have been very supportive. You've also given a lot of feedback on how the bike's running and that has helped a lot too - a second opinion.

Don, still using the stock ecm for spark so no rev limit changes yet. Things will get very interesting after the imminent release of the Microsquirt, which has two independent ignition channels with dwell control and some sort of sequential injection.

Josh, if you ever need any help just pm me. Some more detail of my initial install and the comedy of errors as I got a grip on it all (it's easy now, but frightening back then) http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/90647.html

A pic of the new MS under the seat between the fuse box and the seat latch, with the lid off the box. The grey box on top of the battery is a wideband O2 controller. Thanks to Jim who designed the miniature Megasquirt PCB especially for Buells - he'll be squirting his S3 very soon.

Forgot to add, with Megasquirt there's no more tps resets, no AFV to deal with, no more closed-loop issues, and no more warmup issues. You can set the AFR to whatever you want, wherever you want it. It can run open-loop only, or closed loop with narrowband or wideband (within the parameters you choose) or it can run to a target AFR table with wideband. It's quite versatile.

I have become overloaded with work so ironically I haven't been able to squirt my own S3T with the new design. I am glad that Bindy and Opto have been able to try it out.

Just so everyone knows, Opto has been a key part of this as I would of had to learn the hard way everything that Opto already knows about using MS on a Buell. His depth of knowledge about Megasquirt has made this much easier to design.

At the current time the best option for spark changes is to switch over to an aftermarket ignition system with adjustable curves for a pre-EFI model. Within a matter of months this will not be necessary as there will be an open source code for handling this.

As Opto was saying, the MicroSquirt (uS) will have odd fire control once it is released and the code should be backward compatible with this board. I have done my best to make the board upgradeable with the addition of the MSII daughterboard and a few extra components.
