Are the Headers the same size on a 9 or 12...I know one will fit the other..

Just looking at it the header on a 12 looks bigger...

Which brings me to my next question the Micron exhaust did really well on the 9 Can you contribute alot of that to the larger size header?

The part number for Micron exhaust the 9 & 12 are the same...

I don't know if it's the size as much as the shape of the tubes.
The Micron uses a much better flow dynamic in their tubes.

I know the collector is the same size...

Despite the shape I'm wondering about the Numbers...

On the the Shootout

Everything was pretty darn close to stock race exhaust.. The Micron had about 4-6 more HP than the rest but the torque was the same as the others...

Are there any drawbacks to running a 12 header on a 9 performance wise?

I did some digging on the forum but what I only found was speculation..

I couldn't find some one who actually put a 12Header on a 9 and ran it and or dyno'd it...

I'd be interested to know....

None of the heavy hitters have anything to say on this? This must have been done by someone before. Anyone have any insight on the subject?

logically a 12 on a 9 wld mean less lowdown & more 5000++ rpm performance?!

Slight gain of 2hp (dynojet) between 7000 and 7500rpm, but you lose everwhere below 6000. I'm running this combination on a suspersport legal AHRMA F3 battle of the twins bike (XB9). Engine is completely stock (per the rules)with a Buell race muffler. It was worth it for our application, but I wouldn't consider for a street bike.

Hurricane,
I though AHRMA was all "vintage" stuff? They got a class you can run a Buell in?

Hey charles, AHRMA sure does! they absorbed the old AMA protwins class back in the late 80's/early 90's. You can run modern twins and singles (and triples in some classes). check out AHRMA.org for all the details. Buells are allowed in and very competitve in a number of classes. AHRMA is a super cool orgfanization to run with, as you see all sorts of cool bikes, even in the modern classes. There was a guzzi MGS-01 from italy at daytona, as well as the Sundance Daytona weapon from Japan. We raced against a Britten last year believe it or not. The Buell XBRR's were even at Daytona running AHRMA for more track time. They also go to some awesome tracks. This is not to mention all the cool vintage bikes. Vintage days at mid ohio regularly out draws the ama superbike race there. where else are you going to see Gary Nixon on a 3 cylinder triumph battling Jay Springsteen on an XR750? come on out to check it out!
