I thought of getting black wheels also, but with the black plastics the amber wheels and windscreen match perfectly. The cost of buying new black wheels is cost prohibitive so your options are: 1) powdercoat your amber rims black (bearings will need to be removed and replaced), 2) paint your rims black (bearings can remain with no problems), or 3) stay with your amber rims and just enjoy riding your bike?

A nice set of amber rims went for $400 on ebay a few weeks ago. Black rims are ~$300 a piece w/ Dave's 10% discount I think. That would make it about $200 plus the cost to remount and balance tires. If you time it when you wear tires out and need replacing anyways, that saves that extra cost I don't think that is too bad to get the rims you want. Once you go to all the trouble to paint (which I've seen last just fine (a good paint w/ clear coat) or powdercoat I think it is much easier just to pick up the phone call Dave at Appleton HD and buy the rims, post the old ones up on ebay and be done. Unless of course you are looking for a winter project to play with.

Here are some pics of Shred's bike. You can ask him on the 3%er thread about it.

yes I really like that look with the black wheels and the black windscreen that looks really good so you think I could get 400 for my wheels thats not bad at all and than just 200 more for some brand new black ones. Well anyone want to buy some amber wheels here?

I would like to sell them together let me think about it because i only have 400 miles on the bike so I might need to wait until I need new tires to save some money on the install.
