Ever since I have found out about this board, all I want to do is modify my bike. This place is like a disease that costs me money. The more I spend on my bike, the more I come bike to see what else I can do. I love it here!!

Been there done that when I was younger, not so much anymore. However, as much as I'd like to mod my Ulysses. I find it difficult to improve on the vehicle "as delivered."

Yes, this board is like a virus. It starts off with just a little reading here and there. Then a seed is planted and before long it sprouts and then the mods begin!

G4string,

If you get asked to go to a track day, it only gets worse!

You'll find yourself wanting "stickier" tires and pretty soon, you will accept tire changes every 500 miles as being "normal"

It's NOT an addiction, IT'S NOT!!!

I thought my bike was perfect as delivered too, but that wears off.

Everything can be improved upon.

I am a musician as well. I used to frequent a forum called "Talk Bass". There, they referred to this problem as G.A.S., Gear-Acquisition-Syndrome.

Slaughter,

I could only imagine track day. Shit, I need a trailer, a bike stand, new tires, leathers, etc, etc.

Damn you BADWEB, damn you!!

Now I "get" G4string - you're a bass guitarist!

You were on TalkBass? Me too, but I retired from playing bass for a living after 28 years in USAF bands. Got a closet full of gear that I haven't gotten around to putting up on eBay. Now just doing little things to my R to get it ready for Iron Butt type stuff, all safety, comfort & reliability mods.

I am in the USAF. I am in the 128ARW in Milwaukee, WI. I am a guardsmen there. I work as a crew chief on KC135's.

You have an Epifani stuff? I am looking for a 112. I have an Aggie 112 (2ea) and a Berg 322. I would really like to try the Epi stuff.

I ride my bike stock. I could care less about modifications. It has a silver paint job with ghost flames that were there when I bought it.

Most of the modern machines run faster than most humans can (or should) ride. I am starting to want more power but I will buy a bike with more power rather than mess with the XB. As for cosmetic stuff? Hell I have not bothered to repaint the tail section after my low side a year and a half ago.

I may line-x it. Cheap, done in a day and durable as hell.

G4string - nothing wrong with being into G-strings (as an observer of most thigs female) - OR as a guitar, bass (guitar OR Violin!) - violin, mandolin, viola, cello for that matter!

It's not just you... I was happy with my bike... then I found this forum, and now have frame pucks, front and back axle sliders, bar end mirrors, tank bra, 2 headlights on at the same time, select seat going to be ordered as soon as I can get in touch with Dave S. tomorrow, 3 different custom speedo templates, and about a dozen more ideas flying through my head at this very moment.

What was that bell I just heard? Oh yeah, it's DaveS cash register! Cha-ching!

Kurosawa,

The Berg is loud and tastey. I can drive whole rooms with that cab. I play in two bands, jazz and country. The country band has full PA support, subs, mons, tops, etc, etc. When I bring the Berg out, our sound guy usually cut me out of the mix after the first set. The Berg is a good cab if you play festivals and/or big stages. For the clubs, it's too much. Plus, it weighs like a 100lbs. Lately, I have been using just one Aggie 112 for the CW gigs. If I do a jazz gig, I bring out two Aggies. Usually with the jazz gig we dont have a PA support. What do you use for an axe? I am using a Lakland 55-94. I would have bought a Sadowsky. But this place and my XB9S have prevented that from happening.

Isn't it interesting how "wants" become "needs".. yeah I do really need the frame sliders, LSL damper, and shop manual.. however the right side air scoop and SS Drummer have made their way on the "needs" list now.. :P hmm rizoma mirrors on the needs list next??

One more bikin’ bass player here.
Mostly cover bands in the 70's & 80's and a little studio work. TV commercials and a few tracks on a jazz album, but the arthritis is to the point where I’m doing the Ebay thing now.
Can’t part with my Carvin fretless, or my Warwick Dolphin Pro though.

I know, damn this place! It all started last year when I bought my Blast. I was hoping jumping up to the XB would solve the problem. It just made it worse! This week, $350. I just had to have a Corbin from American Sport Bike and sliders from DHM.

71sportster,

Do you like the Jeff Beck, Billy Cobham fusion type stuff. If so, send me your email and I can send you some MP3's of my jazz group. Or give me an address and I will send you a CD. There is nothing cooler than motorcycle bass players. Especially the ones who ride Buells!!
