Did anyone have problems removing their stock grips from their black handlebars? I read on another post that some people had to scrape the glue/rubber that was stuck to the handlebars. I haven't cut my grips off yet, but I am a little hesitant to scrape up the paint on the bars, even if the scrapes will be hidden under the new grips. What do you guys think? Also do you have to cut off the stock throttle grip to get to remove it?

They are glued in place from the factory, which means they have to be cut.
The throttle grip comes out by removing the starter switch housing and removing the cables.

Nah, I replaced mine with rizoma ones, you just gotta take your time, pour some soap water underneeth it so you can make it slippery than just twist it hard, it will rotate a little bit than will be stuck only by the glue, force a little bit more and the glue will come off, it will take a little effort but you can save your grips in case of a emergency replacement...

Thanks for the input guys, put them on tonight without a problem. By the way, there is not paint under the left grip.

Another cost saving measure to fight inflation. The 2006 models weren't painted under the right grip either.
Rumor has it the 2007 bars won't be painted at all!
