Went to remove the front fender and BAM, the dealers had decided to use red loctite on the fasteners during the last tire change. Proceeded to strip the heads out thoroughly and then had to CUT my beautiful front fender off so I could remove the screws with vicegrips.
Well at least I can replace them with Allen heads this time around and not have to worry about it again.
Does anyone have a nice, unscratched Battle Blue fender laying around? I need it to participate in a ride this weekend. I will GLADLY pay a fair price as well as overnight shipping costs in the hope of getting back on the rode this weekend.
Please help a brother out if ya' can!!!

I think you could have drilled out those screws?

Just thinking!

Just for future reference, I've had good luck getting boogered screws out by cutting a slot across the remains of the head with a cutting wheel in a Dremel tool, then using an impact driver.

A very small (6" handle) pipe wrench works much better than ViceGrips in those applications too.

Are you sure that the dealer took the fender off?

I've never taken mine off to remove the wheel.

I am assuming the dealer did remove the fender since there was what I believe to be red Loctite on the threads (I guess I could be wrong though). Also the manual states to rotate the lower fork leg and with the fender on I didn't see how that was possible.
I tried drilling them out but since the screws have a shoulder it required using a larger drill bit. This would have left me with a VERY short nub to work the remaining stud out with.
I tried channel locks (pipe wrench) but couldn't squeeze them hard enough to break the bolts loose even with the fender removed. These things were unbelievably locked into place.
I'll have to remember the Dremel tip. If I run into the situation again I will give it a whirl.
Ordered the fender from Daves S but he had to order it as well. Got overnight service put on it but still doubt it will hit in time for the weekend ride. Oh well, life goes on I reckon.
