Buell Selects Sentry Insurance As Preferred Insurance Provider

Buell and Sentry Work Together to Reduce Cost of Insuring Buell Motorcycles

5.17.2006 Buell Motorcycle Company has selected Sentry Insurance as the preferred insurance provider for Buell owners in the United States.

Buell worked closely with Sentry over the last two years to find the best way to lower insurance rates on Buell motorcycles. As a result, many Buell owners will pay significantly lower premiums on their motorcycles insured through Sentry.

“We’re excited to work with Sentry Insurance to provide Buell owners lower insurance rates. This is the most comprehensive alliance we are aware of between a manufacturer and an insurance company with the common objective of reducing the costs of ownership and insurance,” says Jon Flickinger, President and COO of Buell Motorcycle Company.

Sentry has developed a special process for calculating insurance quotes for Buell motorcycles which does not use other sportbike insurance losses as part of the formula. Now Buell owners who receive a quote from Sentry should get a more competitive quote based on the lower claims costs for Buell motorcycles.

“Insurance premiums can represent one of the highest costs of owning a motorcycle,” says Nick Fiore, Motorcycle Product Manager, Sentry Insurance. “With Sentry Insurance, the costs of owning a Buell motorcycle can be considerably less than owning any other sportbike on the market.”

Sentry Insurance will provide quotes on older Buell models as well as new models. Additional coverage can be purchased for Buell optional equipment. Sentry motorcycle insurance is available through Harley-Davidson Insurance and is offered in 42 states. To receive a competitive quote, Buell owners and customers can call Harley-Davidson Insurance at 866-816-5816.

Sentry is one of the top 10 insurers of motorcycles in the United States. Sentry and its property and casualty insurance subsidiaries are rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best Company, the country’s most authoritative insurance rating and information service. With 70 percent of Buell owners currently choosing Sentry as their preferred provider, Sentry is the fastest growing insurance carrier for Buell motorcycle owners.

Oh by the way, I actually have had Sentry from day one, also called Dairyland...when I went from a 9s to a 12s, my rates went up only 64 dollars for the year...they have been great!

Sentry (Dairyland) has always had the lowest rates for me. I have used them from day one for my XB9. They even cover your riding gear.

Aks- be careful what you wish for. Insurance on my 3 year old XB12R is ~$1050/yr and that's as low as I can get it. The next closest quote was $1900/yr. Progressive wanted $3600/yr. All of these quotes are with the maximum deductible.

Sentry does not offer motorcycle insurance in my state.

Sentry dropped Florida for a while and now they're back...so double check and see if they may now or in the future be covering your state again.

Dairyland Quoted me $1200/yr for my 06 XB12ss. With 15/30/15 coverage, what a joke.

State Farm covers 150/300/150 AND beat them by $560/yr.

10x the coverage for half the price...

I don't think they can beat my 252 a year with American Family Insurance in Iowa

28 years old // Wife is 35.
House, 2 motorcycles, 2 vehicles all through same company. All Full coverage.

Decent driving record. Hers is spotless, i had OWI in 2001.

I think its okay.. Now the insurance on the GSXR 750 I have.. ouch.. 701 a year. 350.50 every 6 months. Still, I guess it isn't to bad. Considering Buell Lightning isn't considered a Crotch Rocket.

I've been with Dairyland (Sentry) for the past 2 years. When I had my FJR, they were the cheapest. When I sold my FJR and got my Uly, my premium went up $200/yr? What's up with that?? I less expensive, slower (by a LONG shot), cheaper to repair bike and my premiums went UP???

I decided to shop around, and I couldn't find any coverage for less money. So, instead of insuring my FJR and Ducati for $500/yr with full coverage, I'm now paying $700/yr for the Buell and Ducati.

Guess the FJR was classified as a touring bike by Sentry? Who knows?

Hopefully this new alliance will drop my rates.

I dont know how sentry insurance is for the insured... but I had my truck hit, while parked as I stood and watched, by a person with Sentry. With a police statement and witnesses it took about 9 months and several trips to court to get my truck covered. Seemed like a shady operation to me.

This just adds more fuel to the fire...

Don't worry - nobody should understand this post (maybe a few sharp badwebbers might, though)...

If Kansas doesn't work out, there's alway Indiana? or Wisconsin. I understand there's a small motorcycle company there.

Raf - 1-800-3-SENTRY

I guess it's not better for everyone..but at least it's an option for something better for some.

They also have a credit-rating based system, where if you have better credit, your rates are lower.
As I said, I was very happy when I switched from my 9 to a 12 and it only went up 64 dollars for the whole year.
I am a newer rider, and I live in South "crazy driver" Florida, i'm 36 and I pay a little over 1k a year.

Justin you must have a pretty bad driving record. :P You are riding a 12 so that could make a difference. I called them up and they quoted me 344 a year. Geico is canceled and i'm switching.

btw my payments will be 34 bucks instead of 100 a month. I asked them about the buell partnership and they told me they have had this in the works for a few years.

You just helped me save $240/yr on insuring my 2 Buell cycles! SWEET! And I thought Geico was good at $409/yr, with just liability and comprehensive on each bike.

Awesome T9R...I'm glad some people are getting better rates..that's awesome!!! Insurance is one of those necessary evils, but when you need it, you're SO glad it's there.

I had them before I read this and have been telling everyone I know that has a bike about Dairyland(Sentry). I didn't know that it was pretty much just the Buells. Oh well, I guess the high cost of insurance comes with the Asian persuasion. I pay $228.00 a year, wow, I still can't believe it. When I set it up through my insurance agent, she called Sentry and asked to talk with a supervisor because she was sure there was a mistake.
