I am thinking about buying the Buell tailbag but it looks sorta small... is it as small as it looks in the stock pictures at Buell's site etc.? Anyone use a different tail bag on their XB-S and recommend it? Thanks. (Message edited by earwig on May 30, 2006) | ||

I use the Ventura system with the sport rack & the 10 liter sport pack. It doesn't go on the seat bit sits behind it so I can still carry a passenger & it's pretty roomy without being obtrusive. This is the earliest I've ever been late! | ||

it's actually a pretty decent size, and the sides unzip and pop out an additional 2" on each side. The only issue I've found is it has clips to attach to the saddlebags, and no bungees. The cortec tail bag is identical and has bungees included. It just doesn't have the Buell logo on it. | ||

Oh.. When I read "tailbag" I was thinking of the little triangular bag that sits on the pillion part of the seat. If it's the trunk bag that is the subject you need the saddle bags to use it. (Message edited by metalstorm on May 30, 2006) This is the earliest I've ever been late! | ||

I have the little triangular tailbag and I love it. I can put a baseball cap, my raingear, cellphone and smokes in it. It doesn't hold much, but it holds what I need and looks cool too. It's not for travelling. I have the saddle bags and would like to get the trunk bag maybe, but think I'll buy a Ulysses instead. The right tool for the right job, as my Grampa used to say. The tailbag will also hold a sub sandwich from my favourite sandwich shop and a coke, but it better not rain, cause then I woudn't have my raingear. | ||

The Buell Tailbag is pretty decent size and pretty good quality. I have had mine on there ever since I got the bike. I carry around the following all the time: -Small can of HondaPolish -Squirt bottle of glass cleaner -4 Terry Cloth rags -~20 paper towels -Extra tool pouch measuring about 3" X 7" I could get more stuff in there pretty easy if I wanted to. It also acts as a nice bump pad too. For longer trips I also run the Ventura but I flip it around 180 degrees so that the bag is over the passenger seat. Requires taking the tail bag off but this arrangement makes the bike ride much better. (Message edited by lovematt on May 31, 2006) | ||

I purchased the early tailbag designed for the S1 and installed it on my XB12s. It never quite fit right... the shape of the seat stressing the strap near the tail-light. I like the Buell tailbag but I didn't want to HAVE to buy the saddlebags... cause I didn't want or need them. So I purchased a Cortech Tailbag. It's bigger than the Buell small tailbag and about the same size and shape of the Buell combo tailbag/saddlebags. It expands on the sides and can hold quite a bit. Come with integral straps and pad that "sticks" to the seat. Best purchase I've made this year. | ||

I have the Cortech tailbag and saddlebags on my XB12Ss. They work fantastic and I can hold enough for a long weekend trip plus have room to store more... Lee | ||

Assuming we are talking about the actual tail bag....            It is important to remember that the sides of the bag are actually deeper than the center, due to the bag being formed to the contour of the seat. I have found the bag to hold quite a bit of stuff, although I only use it for visor wipes, registration, Tire gauge/valve caps, and my camera. Hope this helps. Kyle, Just ordered the tank bag from Daves although it looks kinda small to me; what is your opinion? I may end up wanting a tailbag too although I am getting older and it seems like they would be in the way to get on or off the bike if any bigger than the little Buell one? I found a fairly large and inexpensive (about $55) Fieldsheer tail bag around here but a zipper was busted on the only one they had so I passed... Mike | ||

I've had positive experiences with a couple of 4-bungee fabric tail packs. Nelson-Rigg TP-902 Pro Tailpack (B,K,R,Y) is an amazing $44.95 shipped. The dimensions given are for outside, not inside. Well built little bag and an absolute steal. Even has a free rain cover. But I had to have one big enough for my huge textbooks, so I returned the TP-902 (super-fast refund came back) and bought a Roadgear Jumbo Sport Tail Pack for $99.90 with cover for $15.00. Great design, great quality. Some day I'll also buy the $115.00 Euro Sport Jumbo Hauler, kind of like a duffel that goes across the rear seat. | ||

Mikemax- Went out to the garage for you....  Height of bag unexpanded (rear)  Length of bag (front to rear)  Width of bag (left to right)  Length of bag (front to rear)  Depth of bag (at rear...lost picture of front depth)  What it looks like expanded (note bag is empty so it looks a lil' shabby)  Expansion measurement "4in" but this fabric can be manipulated to accommodate more  Detachable Pocket Width (left to right)  Detachable Pocket Height (top to bottom... lost picture of depth, but like 2-3in.  Included rain cover (Tight fit, has clear window on top to view map pocket, and drawstring on bottom to secure) Features I like-  Hole for headphones (very tight fit)  Detachable Map Pocket (secures to bag using three twist locks, and velcro on L/R side. Handy if you want to study your route while at a rest stop.  You can see the three small locks to secure the map pocket here, as well as the velcro on either side. In addition to this, as you can see,(refer to zipper) is another hidden pocket below the detachable map pocket. Only bad thing I have to say about this product is that I sometimes find myself detaching the small pocket by accident. It is only secured by 3 buttons, and I sometimes apply more than needed pressure when re-zipping the pocket. But besides that it works good for me. I really like the tankbag. It is fairly big, expandable, like in the pictures. The zippers are hard to pull because they have a water resistant seal, a really nice feature. It doesnt flop around, and feels very secure. I am thinking about adding some velcro to the back of the detachable bag, it does come off easily. | ||

I have a rallye tail bag that I bought from chapperal for 44.95. Fits the bike well and expands enough to fit a weeks worth of riding cloths in. Looks like it was made for the bike. | ||
