Does anyone know if I run a K&N air filter, the factory race ecm with the stock exhaust I will have any problems? I am waiting to buy my exhaust until the shootout results are posted, (Thanks to everyone involved!!!) Thanks for the help! |

I don't see why it would cause any problems. It will probably run better. |

Actually, it is not such a great idea. The reason is that the stock muffler has a flapper valve that is actuated by the stock ecm. The race ecm does not open the valve. The result is that the engine will run, but it will run quite a bit richer, you might foul plugs. I tried this for a few days, the plugs didn't look so pretty. |

My bad,I didn't check to see what bike Soggycal had. Of course the 12s have the exhaust valve and need the standard ecm to operate it. You will lose alot of the top end, but the race ecm should be able to adjust to prevent a too rich mixture. I don't think it will do any damage other than the loss of top end. |

on the other side, you could pin the valve open too and be just fine. maybe lose a little bottom end. I'd rather sweat than bleed, wouldn't you? White is definitely the FASTEST color Buell.

I did what Diablobrian suggested for a few days until my Drummer arrived. Worked better, but still far from ideal: neither the air cleaner or muffler are what the race ecm is looking for. An easy way to do this is to open the air box, disconnect the servo motor from the actuating cable. Then pull the cable out as far as it will go, bend it back along the outer casing of the cable, and hold it open and in place with some zip ties. That way you don't have to get to the muffler end of the valve until you fit your new muffler.( Thanks to LoneXB for showing me how to do this), |
