The problem is the belt length.

You would need to change the front AND rear in order to maintain the same belt length. (if you have a machine shop, you MIGHT be able to get a smaller idler pulley but that would be a whole other Pandora's box of problems)

The European bikes run taller gearing and you can probably order the parts. It's unfortunately not like a chain where you knock out or add a few links to make up the difference.

Give Daves a holler to see what's out there. You could also see if any of the Brit Buellers on http://www.ukbeg.com might want to do a switch.

Here's my take on it however (having raced for a bit) - if you're gearing your bike TALLER - you will find you are going to lose more on acceleration than you gain in top speed. That has a greater effect on overall performance unless you're just doing straight-line runs over multiple-mile straight sections of roads.

I'd much rather be able to get up to 130MPH QUICKER than take more time to get up to 145MPH - you just run out of track or road before you get there.

good points & thanks for the feedback .. i guess that is one of the buells points .. acceleration ..

also, most races have what .. 100mph av. speeds anyway .. & for little old track novice me, if i can even learn to corner well, thats shd be enough fun.

thanks.

paul.

Paul - the horsepower thing is waaay over-rated anyways.

Nothing beats a bike with predictable/precise handling and braking.

The problem is that it takes some patience and deliberate paying attention to details and making small adjustments. You can buy Horsepower much easier than you can buy handling qualities. (that goes for any kind of bike, not just Buells)

Enjoy the ride.

I agree.
Once you get the speed through the corners, your exit speed will pick up, and your straight speed will grow as well.
