I hear lots of complaints, but I've never even noticed the fan noise. Yes, it's there, but so what? That's like griping about hearing the AC compressor kick in on your car. Just a part of it.
Or is someone worried the Jap boys will make fun of their noisy bike? ;P

If all you can here is the fan it sounds like it is time for a louder pipe! I can barely here my fan running while I'm moving, and at a stand still it still isn't that bad. I just have a Jardine, so if you picked up a Force exhaust you will never here the fan again. |

I run a D&D and can NEVER hear it until I shut the bike off.

I've heard vacumes that are quieter than the buell fan, and they suck more and are bigger

I believe that, ultimately, there was some kind of run-in at Starbuck's and this is why Erik put in the loud fans...

And it only runs for 15 seconds or so! =P

After a good spirited ride, my fan will run for about two minutes on high & about one minute on low after I shut the bike down.
Not that I timed it or anything but it seems like about two minutes high & one minute low.

According to the xb12x manual (Uly) the key on / fan on temperature is 428 F and it cuts off at 356 F.
The key off / fan on is at 338 F and cuts off at 302 F.
After any substantial ride the fan is going to turn on when you turn off the bike. On a short ride when the fan has never come on you might be hovering at 420 F and think you are not that hot and when you shut down then the fan is going to run a long time to reach 302 F. After a long ride with the fan running and you shut down you might be at 390 F and the fan will not run as long. It is my guess that the target temperature by the designers is about 392 F. Just a calculated guess though. |
