...like a sherrifs badge... i'm by the sea see? and whilst its good for the lungs it ain't good for my footpegs. the nuts and bolts seem to be coping just fine but the pegs have started to rust pretty badly - os i'm looking for a low maintainance (i'm lazy) solution...

The stock ones as far as I know are aluminum.

Stock are aluminum and at least here in the US are pretty cheap (about $28 for a set)

They may be talking about the pivot pin or e-clip rusting?

After breaking 2 rider pegs within a week I just finished
machining off the "dog ears" on my rear sets and making
myself some new billet pegs out of 1" 6061 t-6 aluminum.

these should be good for many, many miles.

No pics yet, but I'll post them when I have pics taken.
Not everyone has the skills or equipment in their garage
to do something like this, but I've made pegs for
racers before so it wasn't much of a stretch.

In fact the pegs I made were very similar in design
to the ones I've made for sv/gsxr suzukis. just
a few minor changes.

Aks12r, could you post a pick of the rusty offenders?

Here are my solid mount pegs. They are still in prototype
They are obviously a little long, but it's easier to cut them
down to size than to stretch them if they were too short!

It wasn't a difficult job really, at least not if you have a
machine shop in your garage! I'd been thinking about doing
this for a while, the broken pegs just forced the issue a bit.

Nice!
Don't worry about how long they are.
Grind to size ... if you know what I mean ...

Thanks Glitch!

I'm going to at least knock the last segment off, and get rid of the marks I made tightening them down.

You better beleive I used (blue) locktite too.

I'll have to see what I can do about making some custom rear-sets next.

I have the traction pegs. They are coated in rubber so they should hold up to the sea air. Try those, call daves he probably has them in stock.
