05 xb12r .. racekit .. 5000miles .. ride hard ..

put some holes in airbox on rightside - to reflect 06 model airbox - then drilled lots of 1/8th holes at font of airbox cover - once again to reflect 06 models wire mesh airinlet -

took bike out for a slow cruise for an hour or so last night & found at slower speeds the frame near inner thighs felt hotter than usual.

is it likely bike is running too lean w/ the increased air?

does the ecm adjust for this after a few miles?

no unusual popping or other noises from engine.

just felt hot until reaching 60mph .. then cooled down. ambient air temp around 70-80 F.

any info appreciated .. fuel octane is 91 ron.

I may be wrong, but i was under the impression that any time you make a change
to your intake or exhaust you need to do the 10 minutes at 3500rpm drill to set
the AFV to match the new configuration.

Anyone care to re-inforce this notion or disagree?

I would like to know if my xb9s will run lean with an open airbox set up such as from ABR or the FAST system. I have the race kit and right now the bike runs great. Can't hurt to try to get a little more out of it...or can it?

Could it be that you were just focusing more on the bike because of the recent mod and being at the lower speeds that you were feeling the heat more?
I am not saying that it isn't running hotter, but the only way to really make sure would be to take a reading of the temps.
Regardless, I hope that if it is overheating that the problem is quickly found and resolved. Safe Riding!
