well i just got my new mig lights from http://americansportbike.com/ on monday. i just put them on. the install was pretty easy. i had to reverse the clamp for the front brake line. but nothing major. i think it really cleans up the front end of the bike. i haven't got to ride it at night yet so i don't know how bright they are. hopefully i can get out tonight and see.

Jim I have them on my bike. You'll love them. It also opens the door to run lights that would probably melt the stock unit first time out.

I was eye-balling the plug and play HID kits on aerostitch.com

They have them available for both the h3 and h7 bulbs. I am under
the impression that even though they put out +100 watts the heat
output is lower. Is that correct for true HID systems with ballast
etc. or am I incorrect on this?

Here is a link to the "kit"

DiabloBrian, Let me know if you buy those things. I have to do something about the headlights on my 9R as I am moving to deer country soon. 187.00 looks affordable.

If I was to do it it wouldn't be untill fall at the earliest. I just thought it
looked like the least painful way to get real HID headlights.

I was also thinking it might be a good deal to go in on with another firebolt
owner split the cost and both get an HID high beam, while leaving low beam
at a more socially acceptable level for use in town.

Jim, How does that rear cowl over the back of the seat attach?
Are you satisfied with it, where did you get it and how much?
That IS a really sweet XBS!

Great looking bike.

Tell me about your belt guard.

Also, did you polish the heel guard and area behind it or what?

Thanks!

Bigeasy the lights don't give you a flood light type light infront of you. They give you light staight out infront of you. Much brighter white light.

just what Dana "bads1" said it is a focused beam. but it is very bright.

Brian Thanks! i cant wait till next year. i have a few more things up my sleeve for the show. we had a really great time down there. i don't know your's is looking pretty damn good too. have you done your jugs yet?

Badbuell82 i got the seat cowl from americansportbike.com it was $149.95 it fits over your seat. you have to drill a hole and use a bolt and a rubber pinch nut witch are all supplied with the cowl. it doesn't come painted either. but the quality is top notch. i am very satisfied with it.

Brucelee my heel guards, rear sets, belt guard and swing arm brace are all polished. no i didn't polish them. i cheated and bought them that way. i did have the lower polished belt guard but it broke and fell off some where in Daytona.

Can you tell me where you purchased these from?

Also, isn't the belt guard plastic? At least, my stock guard was.

Thanks again.

Brucelee Thanks! i got al of the polished pieces from my local hd/buell dealer. they are buell parts. i am sure Daves can get them for you. the belt guard is aluminum. my stock one was plastic as well. the mirrors i also bought at my local dealer. Daves can get those as well or you can get them from Trojan.

Jim,

What year is your bike?

Is it me or does your bike look like different colors in these two photos?

Brucelee my bike is a 05 xb12scg and yes it does look 2 different colors. it is painted with a shade shifting pearl. it will change from a dark blue to a dark green and all of the shades of the 2 mixed. it is really hard to get good pic's of the paint. you really have to see it in person.

the pic's above look blue and the one below look green. it all depends on the light and where you are standing.
