I am trying to find some info on battletrax racing. I did not see a catagory in the racing topic/section on badweb. What are all the rules? Where can I race/practice? How do I set up my bike? How can I train? Is anybody doing it, anymore? Just curious. | ||

If I'm not mistaken the rules are like bracket racing. You can practice in any parking lot you have access to. Set up is...well...you got good tires, and riding gear? Gloves, boots, and jacket I think is all the riding gear you have to have. I'm not sure who holds them, try and get a hold of Reg Ketrell (I'm not sure if that's how it's spelled). I *think* Daves is a Battletrax official, you may see if he can help you out. I've not seen one held here in the south east, too bad too. I just set up at an old (clean) parking lot near the house and play for an hour or so a week. I've fallen out of the habit here lately, I really should get back at it, sure helps your street game. | ||

Does anyone have any diagrams of track/course layouts? I going to do it my self just to work on my skills but I think it would be a blast if we made it into an event. The whole idea of battletrax, I assume, is to race of skill not top speed. Sounds like fun and perfect for the buells. | ||

well I was going to point you to the Battletrax website but it doesn't seem to exist anymore? Yes, I am a certified Battlemaster but I haven't held an event since I came to WI Be easier to explain if you just call me. 1-866-757-1651 ask for Dave in the sales dept. Battletrax is a lot of fun! Too bad more people wouldn't give it a try. | ||

Battletrax website but it doesn't seem to exist anymore? I was looking for it too.  Too bad more people wouldn't give it a try. I know! It's great fun, and to see everyone whip it around is awesome. I've seen some pretty amazing riding done in a parking lot. That's what got me into it, well, wanting to get into it. Once before I knew Cameron and SMHD&Buell, he talked them into holding one, and no one showed up to play.  Maybe with the rise of the 3%ers, we can get one going. | ||

The hard part that you will have with trying to set it up as an event is insurance. To be insured to hold an event like that is extremely hard (if even possible) and if you do get someone that will insure it, watch out, the costs might scare you. If you want to run one, contact Reg, you can usually find him on Sacborg. He will help you and possibly still be able to get you the insurance that you will need. It is GREAT fun and everyone should get to one if they get the chance.  | ||

Insurance? Never thought about that. Is there any way to get around that? Glitch, If SMHD held a Battletrax You can count me in!  I cant seem to find any active battletrax'n' on the web, its like it was outlawed or no one cares any more. Have they ever done it @ buell homecoming? | ||

Not really, the main problem is that wherever you hold the event the owner of the lot will need the liability binder.

because no one is held responsible for anything that happens to them in the US today, yes you need at least a million $ policy. Even if you have the riders sign waivers. It is Bullshit that this country has gotten to this point. Ruins a lot of fun stuff. I understand the "no one came to play" deal. Back when Craig and I were both at the shop in Waterloo we had some good events but usually only had 40 or so riders willing to actually do the course. Seems the majority of sportbike riders only "act like they can ride" and won't do it when it comes to game time. They are afraid, afraid of crashing,afraid of getting hurt,afraid of looking like a pud in front of everyone else. But they will talk all day about how fast their bike is I have seen some really good Battletrax riders(I am not one of them) Some of the best are,not in any order here Jose Doug Bruns,probably the best Craig Shazam Jeremy Wittgreve Reg Kittrell Ferris Jeff Johnson(races for Hoban Brothers) Marty Loonan, rode a FLHT faster than most sportbikes Almost any motorcycle officer Many more It takes a lot of skill and smoothness to be good at Battletrax | ||

ps the funniest thing I ever saw at a BTX was Ponytail Kevin's 7 year old son Mason run a better time on his Honda 50 than a guy who is a good rider. He was on a Busa! Now that is funny | ||

I'd love to watch, but I wouldn't be able to participate. It has something to do with not be able to put weight on my left peg. I know I'll never be one of the truly FAST guys again, but that won't keep me from riding. So not all of the people that don't participate are smack talking posers. So, who wants to hear about how fast I used to be?   Did the rumors of Battletrax during homecoming ever solidify? Like I said I'd love to watch Diablo"hop-along"brian | ||

Brian, The fact that you still ride,had to modify your bike to make it possible, excludes you from the "smack talking poser gang" Anytime you want, I'll listen to how fast you used to be  Buell riders in general have always seemed more willing to do BTX than riders of other brands. | ||

I've competed in Danbury and down in Daytona Beach and have a few trophies to show for it. Most of the time I won the "Bagger" category on my K1200LT, but I took home a trophy for "Best Cyclone" one year. I just discovered that I had a saved, PDF copy of the Battletrax manual on my hard drive. This was saved from the old Battletrax website before it went offline.
