I'm having a hard time sticking with my bike. She's a '05 XB12R and this is the 2nd time since October she's gone in for surgery.
At the end of last season she left me stranded because of a faulty low fuel sensor (I know I should've been watching the mileage but I forget about those things when I ride).
Today, the dealer picked her up for something that seems more serious. I was riding last week and while sitting at a red light, the RPMs jumped by about 2000. Some clicking and overheating followed and now it's off to the dealer, again.
I want to stick with an American bike, I've never seen a better looking bike than a Buell. If these are the kinds of problems I'm having in less than a year, what do I have to look forward to?

Getting all the bugs worked out. Well, except for getting the bike to gas itself up.

Maybe if you replace your stock, or maybe even CF front end with solar panel it might improve the mileage, and then no need for a low fuel sensor.

All kidding aside, you have to look forward to not being "mainstream" and being different; as well as supporting your country by owning an AMERICAN MACHINE.

Ride up to Erie for me.... let me know how things are looking when you get the bike back.

every manufacturer has lemons as well as bikes that have a few more problems than normal. that doesnt mean all buells suck as far a build quality. i just dont want people to get the wrong idea and start thinking buells are unreliable. the opposite is the truth as most have had few if any problems. i for one have had 0 problems since bying my 03 XB9S back in July 2003.

Mines been in the shop several times as well. I know how you feel. I always use one of my trip odometers to gauge fuel. I know that I get about 80-100 miles before the reserve kicks in.

Top it off... If I'm not driving a car or a bike its topped off.. Keeps moisture out...

I got a bad batch of gas and it caused me a whole lot of grief.. Put some STP in it let it sit over night and it was fine..

Shit happens with bikes and cars... Hell my father inlaws brand New Victory had the rear turn signals cross wired from factory..

Yeah. Most of my driving is in town. I also have the race ECM and a Jardine. Don't know how much impact those have on mileage.

My 03 XB9S has never left me stranded. I also got it in July of 03.
