So while I was doing an oil change yesterday I decided to play around with the suspension settings a bit. I took my wife on a ride Friday and with both of us on there ( 180 & 115) the rear felt softer than I would have preferred. Under the corner of the seat I see a little screw that has arrows pointing clockwise or counter and they say H and S. Is this Harder and Softer? I turned it all the way in the H direction and I cannot tell much difference. As a matter of fact, it feels a little softer?

So, if someone could explain how I can make the front and rear suspension harder I guess that's what I'm going after.

Yes, I will buy a manual soon...I swear.

Not sure what "H" and "S" stand for, but I can tell you it dosn't mean harder and softer. There are three adjustments to each piece of suspension. If you have the owner's manual, look it up. It will show you exactly how to adjust it.

You need to change the preload for riding two up. Then adjust the compression and rebound.
The manual has a chart based on weight

How much for the manual? I also need a new gasket for the tranny change I'm going to do.

What else??? How comfortable is that Touring seat for the bolt? My wife doesn't like the stocker. I guess I'll need a price on that as well.

Could you give me your opinion of the race series suspension upgrade?

I would also like a set of the traction hand grips so you can throw those in as well. Last thing, a bottle of Novus 1.

The owners manual is 20.00
The service manual is 58.00
The Touring pillion is 119.95
I have never used the race suspension so I do not know how much difference it will make?
Grips 16.95
Gasket is like 2.50
Less 10% off all these prices of course

With these you should be able to get in the ballpark of where you want to be if you ride hard.

remember the damping settings are very sensitive.

Diablobrian-thanks for the chart. I found it in a search and I understand it, but I do not understand how the settings transfer on the bike. I don't understand which is preload and which is compression on the fork or the rear shock.

Any pointers?

If you look in the manual link above there is a section on setting the suspension
complete with pictures of the adjusters and where to locate them.
