stealthXb,
hmm - dont start wasted threads - you mean like a 1/2 a$$*D arrogant thread bashing new posters for trying to get a handle on their new XB? As a Noob, I kind or resemble those remarks.....and take exception to them.

Tell you what, why dont you come over to the 4x4 diesel conversion boards, such as 4x4labs, or seriestrek, and see the right way to treat new posters...or are you a licensed factory tech in mercedes, rover, perkins & isuzu diesels, too? everyone, new or old has SOMETHING to contribute, even if its as little ( much) as lateral thinking, ro an alternate viewpoint - believe me, you wouldnt want to end up with a flat ( or an 'off') and have the only person coming by be someone you've insulted on the board, now would you?

If that was your attempt at polite, I would say that your upbringing leaves a little to be desired. Your comments are just rude and could be a really bad thing to have a first timer stumble onto. Like said before, read the damn subject and if you dont care to "see it again", pass over it. And from personal experience, the KV is hard and time consuming to use, it goes back to 99 and further when I am trying to find an answer that pertains to an 03, 04, or 05 for that matter. I happened to look at your profile just out of curiousity and it looks like computers are your thing.. IMO, just mine, maybe you could create your own website and play like Donald Trump and the first time someone asks a stupid question, you can FIRE THEM and permanently block them from future "stupid questions". Lighten up man, like said before, what the hell else are you gonna talk about on a dedicated XB forum.

As a "Noob", I come here to learn all that I can about my new XB. I also come here to be a part of a community that shares my same interests motorcycles. However, I just recently purchased my XB after riding a Yamaha. The forum that I used to go to was set up very different from this one. The senior members treated the forum as a club and welcomed "noobs". They actually encouraged many new postings to keep the boards alive. If every post must be a new, never before covered topic, then this board will get dull in a hurry. For the sake of this board, I hope that other members don't listen to your advice.

Now that is a question that I think does have merit. Someone stumbles onto one of the threads about the notoriously weak belts of yesteryear and what do they find. If they use the search function the first 5 pages dont even refer to an XB usually. I am one of the curious few that would like an answer to this question. If you dont frequent the board every day, so many posts get made that an answer may slip by quickly and once again, its damn near impossible to find unless someone gives you a link to it. Unless of course you have the rest of tonight and maybe tomorrow to search for an answer that may or not be there.

Huh. Soon, all of the possible topics will be covered, and then there will be no need for anybody to post.

BS. I say ask questions if you have them. Even veterans of the board will admit this isn't the easiest board to use; so a newbie may not take the time to learn.

Or if you're not too busy, just post a link to the appropriate prior thread for the guys. What the hell is the use of having a forum if you don't post questions?

If we want to teach the newbies something, how about appropriate titles for the thread. "I Have a Question" or "Please Help" just doesn't help in a search.

Bill

I have found that its difficult to search the site for information as well. Because the way the information is handled, or not handled. See if i type a word such as "belt" next time someone does a search for belts they will get this post as a response, they will read it and think "WTF" that has nothing to do with belts. They will then proceed to ask in the XB forum about belts, and everyone shakes their heads and thinks "this question has been posted 100 times"
I did a search the other day for exhaust actuator valves and got back about 100 responses related to the drummer and people asking "does the drummer still use the valve" these posts were completely useless to what i wanted to search for and i had to open each one to conclude it was useless because the title in many cases does not elude to the content of the thread. Hence my suggestion that the drummer should have its own section, that way you could exclude drummer responses from a search, the other constant questions like belts, brakes, and so forth should also be moved straight to KV for easier searching. But i guess im just a troll so dont worry about my suggestions

DAMN YOU GUYS. Seems everyone has had there panties a little tight lately. In the last few weeks it seems like i've come across some hostile threads w/ name calling, insulting, wise ass remarks etc. etc. Maybe it is me? What do i know. But you guys need to lighten up. Go take a ride or something. I was new not so long ago. Asked the typical questions on tires, levers, rearsets, seats, pucks,as i had no idea how to use the sight. Thanks to the kind BUELL BROTHERS of this site i have made my buell the way i feel it should be and best represents ME as an individual. I THANK ALL FOR YOUR KIND WORDS/SUGESTIONS/ANSWERS! This site may not be the best for FINDING the information when looking in the kv or other sections, BUT i know i can ask the question and get a good answer and maybe even LEARN something at the same time. Isn't that why we are here? To learn all we can about the bikes we consider as part of our lively hood? Lets show a little respect for each other. NEW or OLD members alike.

JUST MY .02

Someone that purposely picks fights on a forum or antagonizes people intentionally is a troll.

Rich...
If that's accurate, that means I had my Buell before you were even driving, Noob.

Glad your math skills have not yet deteriorated.
Do you have a point?

Ulendo...
you mean like a 1/2 a$$*D arrogant thread bashing new posters for trying to get a handle on their new XB?

This thread may have evolved into a relevant discussion beneficial to the board.
However, many of you had to get defensive predominately because you resemble those remarks.
Now instead of having and interesting discourse you are crying like a bunch of babies.

I am glad your 4x4 buddies are both nice and knowledgeable.
But the right way is relative.
I am not licensed by any factory and wonder why that is pertinent?

everyone, new or old has SOMETHING to contribute

I have yet to say otherwise. And I rather appreciate alternative viewpoints. I entertain them with more consideration than most. However, not much progress is made with lateral movement.

believe me, you wouldnt want to end up with a flat ( or an 'off') and have the only person coming by be someone you've insulted on the board, now would you?

Now you believe me...
If and when I have a problem, one call solves it all.
I have an Army of people who would go to the end of the Earth to help me in any given situation.
This is a result of the respect I have given them at every opportunity.

Rafartist...
I would say that your upbringing leaves a little to be desired.

I would say questioning my upbringing is not in your best interest.

the KV is hard and time consuming to use

Insight never comes easy.

so many posts get made that an answer may slip by quickly and once again, its damn near impossible to find unless someone gives you a link to it.

This is a direct result of the issue I was attempting to address.

Xring...

"I Have a Question" or "Please Help" just doesn't help in a search.

This is an excellent point. I appreciate your contribution to the thread.

Bomber...

The machine does not make the man.
But I am glad you consider me amusing.

All...minus a few who have it figured out

Suggestion:
RTFM and purchase a service manual!
Move to a place you can actually spend time riding rather than posting about it.
Modify your bike in the winter so you can spend your time in the saddle when the season comes around.

It is May for Christ sake and pretty simple:
Tires: Pirelli 36f 38r
OIL: Synthetic 20W50
GAS: Premium

Etiquette is found in all circles of life.
Even on the Net!
If I have to explain it further...
you’re probably not worth my time!

I was a n00b once.
I read the KV at least a half hour a night just because I didn't want to look like an idiot asking a question that had been asked over and over and over.
You're right Stealth, this could have been a construtive thread, but alas, some are lazy, and it stings when it's brought to their attention...
Use the search guys and gals, or there is this thing called google...

What's google?

a unit of quantity equal to 10^100 (1 followed by 100 zeroes). The
googol was invented by the American mathematician Edward Kasner (1878-
1955) in 1938.

Stealth -- nossir, you mis-understood -- it's not you I find amusing --

lateral movement, btw, for you, may be great forward motion for others, but that seems of little interest to you -- fine, no foul at all

ah well, enjoy your spring and your friends, sir --

By definition entertaining is "To hold the attention of with something amusing"
These were your words not mine.

lateral movement, btw, for you, may be great forward motion for others

That is a relevant perspective and despite your assumptions it is appreciated.

ah well, enjoy your spring and your friends, sir --

I fully intend on it.
