Are the seats longer for the SS than the regular S's? I know the airbox is different..but besides the wheelbase and the rake whats different?

Seat and subframe are longer than the standard S models. Swingarm is completely different too.

Frame is a little fatter, so it holds more fuel.

The airbox isn't any different, they all interchange as far as I was told. The subframe and seat is longer and the frame is different as it's a little bit bigger, but I don't think it's any wider, if so you wont be able to know the difference just from width's alone, maybe an inch if that.

The swingarm is longer and I believe the forms are a little bit different as having a little more travel, maybe 1/2 an inch. I'm 5'4" and LOVE my Ss. I plan on trying to fab up the regular S or R subframe to do a pretty sick seat setup.

Hey adamcoony…

Yes… the air box cover is different. It has a vent built into it just in front of the fuel filler. BUT… they are the same size as the other XB covers. So, you can bolt any of the covers on… you just have to give it a place to get some air. They did that because Buell removed the snorkel from inside the frame.

And… yes, the frame is a bit fatter. (I have an XBSs) Not much… just a little to help hold more fuel. But because of that… it limits the “Lock to Lock” on the steering. (the only negative I have with the new XBSs)
