So does anyone else have this available to them? Is this safe to use in the XB? it says it is 105 octane. But it is 85% ethanol. I know they say bad things about ethanol. Being mostly alcohol I assume. I wasn't sure, and I don't think this one is in the knowledge vault. I was asking cause the Hy-Vee gas station 2 blocks away from me is selling it at almost .65 cheaper than 91 or 92 octane. Thanks guys/gals. Input is always nice. Jerry | ||

The owners manual says you can use up to 15% ethanol mixed with your gasoline (aka gasahol). Owners manual says don't use higher than that. 85 is higher than 15  Ethanol has less energy per volume than gasoline. Using such high volume of ethanol would require a change to the air/fuel ratios to get the burn right. Gasoline's optimum AF ratio is different than ethanol's. Gasoline has different properties as far as interaction with other materials (tubes, hoses, etc.) than does ethanol. Ethanol absorbs water from the air. I'm no expert, but my guess is that it is a bad idea. Not a good long-term savings. Factor in the risk to the bike, and the fact that you get 50+ mpg anyway... If you try it, let us know how it works out! | ||

Well, with all that, I think I will stay away from it. I don't want to risk blowing it up or detonation. No thanks. But on the other side, I am going to be buying another bike soon. 06 gixxr 750 ooooo of course.... i would be keeping the bike my wife likes me on the most and she can learn to ride (in training). | ||

That seems like an awful high percentage of ethanol to be used as a public motorfuel.....sure it isn't 85% gasoline/15% ethanol? | ||

I am sure. I will check again, but it said 105 octane E*85 it was at a pump all by itself. and like I said before almost .65 cents cheaper.. cause I think the normal super unleaded with 15% ethanol is the normal and suitable for all motors. And which is normally cheaper than the unleaded. So. I want to learn more. I guess it won't hurt to go find out more. Thanks guys! | ||

so the question still remains. Is it safe for Buell motors? I can't find any info on it. Nor does it look like anyone has tested. Nor do I want to be the one who blew up his bike or was injured due to an experiment. LOL.. although, some of my friends would love it. Thanks for the site Mike. Jerry. | ||

Look for E10---works great in the Buell and is still cheaper. But DO NOT use E85 |
