For the record:
Stone Mountain HD/Buell has gone above and beyond for me on multiple occasions.
My appreciation for that dealership is immeasurable.
Well I could measure it fiscally, but that would not be good for my health.

I think a lot of people have a sort of ritual, check certain things on the bike, say hello to it etc. you’d be surprised.

Me I always say a short prayer, asking that I ride safe without getting hurt, BUT if it’s my time to go just let me make it to heaven (on account sometimes I haven’t behaved in a way that God may even know I want to get there) and then look out for my son while I’m not here to do so !!

And I also make sure if I’m going to ride that I’m well rested, haven’t been drinking or hung over, or in a mood that I’m easily distracted, usually any worries or concerns I have I can push them to the back of my mind for a while and just enjoy the ride !!

Smoke joint
drink some beer
drop some acid
punch the clown
kiss the dog,
slap the wife's ass
then ride like you stole it.
I might be obsessive compulsive..
JUST KIDDIN YO'ALL
Regardless of where I'm going , near or far,
I plan the route in my head, replaying the mental ride in real time and make adjustments for traffic , weather & factor., I ALWAYS Wear my riding gear. Safety first
you know!

I only do 2 checks
1. I make sure I am alert, not groggy, not drunk, not doped on cold meds
If I pass test 1
I put on my gear and proceed to step 2

2. make sure nuts are secured so I dont squelch them when shifting in the seat

Elff...

Woke up today, felt tired still but at least the head was clear. I'm on the Buell today. Went for a late night ride last night. Waited for the traffic rush to pass and went in to work late today. I'm back in the saddle.

Fixing airplanes and dealing with bean counters wears me pretty thin. Counterproductive crap drives me bonkers.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that opts not to ride even on picture perfect days. I knew I wasn't alone, but wanted to see some other folks rituals.

I have only 4 rules that I abide by to prepare myself for a ride.

1) Never ride without complete and adequate gear.

2) Do not ride angry.

3) do not ride impaired. Alcohol, drugs (prescription or otherwise) and even pain cause distraction. distraction kills.

4) You need to be focused on the here and now to ride.

One of these days I am going to see your Firebolt.

: )

In other news, we are going 4wheeling Memorial Day weekend at Paragon. Drop me a PM if you want to do some slow adrenaline stuff. I am taking people over Pick your Poison and Pitfall.

I'll try to work in some time to get the rig trail worthy again. I NEED to get out there. I took the jeep out last weekend to use the winch to aid in felling a tree, and I damn near had a fire before I got too far down the road. Whole jeep filled with thick white smoke like REALLY quick. Looks like an effin cat has been using the fender under the hood for shelter during rain, and must have got a wire somewhere. Brake switch wire at the master cylinder to the pedal, to the ignition switch melted clean thru, and wiped out anything touching it. It still runs, though I'm not sure why. There's some THICK harnesses that are now melted together. I worked for a few hours on Sunday trying to find where it could have shorted to cause that, but found nothing. Dunno. Looks like I'll be re-wiring it yet again.

Holy Crap all from a freaking cat. I guess alternating jeep/buell days ensues I dont get no rodents. That wiring crap can be a pita. Good luck with dat. Im gonna be picking up some TREs and replacing a broken drag link this weekend and then figuring out how many of my control arm joints need rebuilding. Easy shit in comparison to what you are looking at

Elff, I have an inquiry into Painless to see if they can help me out. Otherwise, I'll order another set of used harnesses and do the hack and splice on the living room floor with the harnesses laying next to each other. That will save me about 2 days of work.

AS for the ride part of this thread ( I seemed to have hi-jacked my own thread ), I am riding again, and am looking forward to this rain to stop.

Just picked up some nearly new Alpinestar leathers and Sidi boots from a friend here. Got a sweet deal, and everything fits. Now, I gotta work on the stress...chiropractor is even getting on my case. The chiro suggested I not ride the bikes for awhile till my back de-stresses. Yea, that'll happen. I had to explain to him again what I pay him for. If I didn't ride, go 4 wheeling, or work, for that matter, I prolly wouldn't need him.
