Just got finished putting on the Drummer blow by oil catch can. Very easy to put on. The hardest part of the hole thing was pulling the old blow by tubs out of the bottom of the air box. Its to bad that Buell didn't put these on from the factory. The catch can is very well made. I will probably change the hoses and fittings later for some a/n fittings and steel braided hoses, just because I like the look. Nice work Kevin.

The catch cans are a great and functional piece.

The reason Buell can't put them in from the factory
is EPA regs requiring the venting of crank case
gasses to the intake tract.

BTW the catch can is made by Mike Norris of Norris
Performance. It is marketed through American Sport Bike and Drummer!

The Drummer Racing Products catch can body and lid are indeed superbly machined (and engraved) in billet aluminum by Mike Norris. We at DRP assemble all of the parts into a complete catch can kit, ready to install on any Buell XB. Everything you need including all hoses, fittings, airbox plugs, stainless screws, filter and even wire ties are included.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought it was made by Kevin. Oh what do I know. Well then I thank Mike Norris for his product.
As for the blow by, I don't think the it would be as bad or as noticeable if the oil was put in the manifold after the carburetor or FI , like a car is done, instead of put in the air box. But I don't think it can be done because of how the manifold is designed. But to be honest I have never owned a bike with this much blow by. I know that the more it breaks in the less you are to have.

The catch can what exactly is this doing. I just put in an open airbox kit by americansportbike and ran the hose down to my lower chin spoiler however i dont have a filter or catch can on it yet and need to do something, would this effect the performace at all or is it just to catch overflow of oil?

jeez does it really matter? maybe you should post up who licks the stamp on the package so they can get some credit as well.

All it really does is catch the oil and moisture coming from the motor, instead of going in your motor or on the ground. Now for making more power or less power that is a debate. I know on my drag car I tie value covers into the exhaust and it creates a vacuum in the oil pan and eliminates the air that crank fights against and creates more power. I don't know if this would work on our bikes or not.

Many years ago there was some very specific testing done by Reg regarding where to route those breather tubes. They tested the little valves that create a vacuum, they tested filters, etc. They all worked about the same.

The final conclusion was that no matter how you do it, you will get a definite increase in performance (mind you it's only likely to be 1-2 hp) if you route the breather tubes anywhere but into the intake.

I forget which Battle2Win it was in...I've got it in my library somewhere...

Thanks for complements
The idea for the cans was born here on the bad web.
Crusin, Diablobrian, Hogs, M1, are just a few of the people that
had input in the beginning.
I think they all have been compensated for their input
with free products of some sort.
I designed and machined the piece using everyone’s input.

Great ideas are born on the Bad web every day.

A/n connectors would look a lot better, but would
raise the price to much, I think.
