This weekend I decided it was time to do something to set my 12R apart from the rest and decided to start with new markers. I bought 2 sets of those little oval shaped LED ones (with about 8 LEDs) I put the rears in with little to no trouble and they worked great, sped up my blinker a little (due to LED using less power with less resistance) but when I put the fronts on the stopped working, when I flipped the switch the lights would turn on but not flash and there was a weird buzzing noise coming from under the fairing. I was wondering if anybody has run into this problem, maybe had to put a resistor in line or something? It works fine with aftermarket rears and stock fronts but not both aftermarket. Please help, I hate the stockers....

Many people on here know much more than me, but it sounds like you need to buy 16086 - Turn Signal Flasher, LED from American Sport Bike.

I can't get my hyperlink to work for some reason.

Alan has it right. either an electronic flasher,
or adding some resistors to the line is the only
way to make them work properly.

Anybody know if I can get this part at a local autoparts store or just off of americansportbike? Or has anybody added resistors, if so what size?

The flasher thing is pretty exclusive to American sport bike. Al spent a lot of time finding one that would install easily pretty much a plug in replacement for the stock Buell part, as I understand it. Part number is 16086 , $16.95

The cheapskate department store, Radio Shack , has 10 ohm wire wound 10 watt resistors that work fine, and only cost a couple a bucks, but you have to install them yourself. They go across, (in parallel), one on the right and one on the left branches. Unless you like messing around with your electrical system, calling Al might be the way to go.

So I can pay $17 and wait for a flasher to come in or go to radio shack and spend $2, have them today and it will work the same? I dont really care that they flash faster, I just want them to flash! So 10ohm resistors are what I need? I would just take them and wire them inline on the hot(red) side???

ummm no parallel, not series, and the wattage is as important as the resistance.

considering the vibration on a bike cold solder joints won't last long.

Be careful if your electrical skills aren't up to date.

If you feel comfortable wiring in the resistors, then go for it. A local harley/chopper shop might have a turn signal kit that has instructions, etc, and is a little bit easier to wire in, but is essentially the same thing.

I have the kit installed in my bike, but if I had to do it over again, I'd get the new relay from Al.

Also, as a side note, the signals you got cannot be seen on a bright sunny day. Do not expect people to see them. I have had them on for a year and nobody riding behind me can tell when they're on or off. Cloudy days or night time is fine, but they're just not bright enough.

If you want good led signals that are cheap, check out http://www.shockracing.com

I just put a pair on. Little and pointy, but has 15 led's packed into it and a textured inner surface to help reflect the light.

Can somebody describe to me how to wire in some resistors...I have all my blinkers and would like to get them to work tonight. Also, exactly what resistors do I need.

you need (1) 10 ohm 10 watt wire wound resistor for each side to make them flash. 2 total

They need to be wired in parallel. that is one side attached to each lead of the bulb. one resistor per side.

here is a pic of a parallel circuit. just replace one of the lights with the resistor.

They should be soldered in place, but you may be able to make crimp connectors work for a while.
