I do know Buell sales are up,way up in Appleton!
And just think,only two years ago the Buells "just didn't sell around here"

Don't mean to step on any toes here, but IIRC, there are an average of 12 turns per mile in GB. Unlike the good Ol' USA, the Crown absolutely refused to impinge on property rights for roadways, so roads are
totally twisty, and lots of speed variations. Adverse camber is another thing as well, and people use their bikes to commute quite a bit, some, year round. Single track roads are still common, and people drive on the left, but I don't think they swap hand controls. They do in cars.
Anyways, it makes the Buell perfect for that market, and being a Harley product of sorts, somewhat of a status symbol. SO I am glad that they are selling wherever there is a market demand for them. Oh, and lets not forget, Gas Mileage. AN XB9 can get upwards of 69 MPG, or so I am told. For a commuter bike, who cares what you compare it to. The proper tool for the proper job.

That means nothing. Check the number of units sold if you want to have an accurate business sense.
The total ignorance of Harley/Buell dealers is what concerns me more!
I called THREE dealers closest to me to find out about the Buell sling bag giveaway.
NONE had even a clue about what I was talking about.
Number of dealers means nothing if their focus is on "Road Kings"! |

Europe, Japan and other overseas markets will always be the lions share of Buell sales. Has been for years.
Kind o rather a shame though too (domestic rice-rocket mentality). |

We can all conspire to upset the plan by buying more Buells. . . that'll teach the Euro-Buellers to take our bikes.

Food for thought; When you make somebody (H-D Dealer X) do something they do want to do (sell Buells), they are't really going to give it 100%. The bad dealers will be culled out and the good ones will flurish.
The truth of it is, some areas of the country are just not condusive (ie; flat and straight) to high Buell sales. However, even in these areas there are people that must have a Buell (like me)!
I know where my good H-D/ Buell dealers are and take my business there. It does stink they are not the closest Dealers to me though. |

There are seemingly a lot of us "old" Harley riders moving to Buell. Maybe to recapture the fun we remember from the past, who knows.
Maybe the question should be "with only .5% go the Harley dealers carrying Buell" can they survive (the Harley t-shirt stores).

Buell is doing very well here in the Greater Atlanta Metro Area. Seems like every bike night at the Vortex we meet another Bueller or two. Also when we head up to T.W.O. there seems to be at least one new friend. Of course the area around T.W.O. is what the XB's were made for. I'm petty fortunate to live a half hour or so from Stone Mountain HD & Buell, even more fortunate that they are the best around. We also have the best BRAG club around. Dealerships might support the Buell line more if they were to find out how much fun Buelling is. |

I posted the original question because I first saw a Buell at my local H-D shop and then I found out my buddy had bought one. I checked it out and immediately loved the Bike. I wanted one, went shopping for one some time later only to find out the H-D shops in AR stopped selling them. So I had to ebay it. If I knew about BadWeb beforehand I would have bought off of Daves instead, forgive my ignorance. It is just that I came into the whole Buell scene as it seemed to be getting kind of disregarded. I all ready don't have a H-D shop that can/will do the work on my bike and I haven't found a private shop worthy to touch my bike yet either. I was beginning to think maybe Daves would be the last bastion of salvation for the Buell brand in America. But one day maybe he wouldn't sell (X) x 1000's of bikes and they would pull the brand from the US. Of course you could still get stuff from overseas, but I just didn't want to end up with a DeLorean, you know. |

Although the numbers, if you saw where sportbikes sell, would likely stun you.
Can to take a shot as why Detroit is the #1 sportbike city in the nation? |

Detroit? Really? I hate Detroit, the roads absolutely suck. I have only been there a dozen times but never had fun on the road once. |

Because PA is one of the best states in the US, plus court... look at motorcycle theft rates... very low. I'm from Erie, PA and there are a TON of HD's... but on the other hand there might be just as many rockets. HD's sell like hotcakes in PA, I would account this to Pennsylvanians being some of the most patriotic people in the country, and refusing to buy imported machines. There are also a large number of H.D. employees, family , friends etc. Around the York plant.
I lived in Etters (between York and Harrisburg near 3 Mile Island) for a while.
There were a lot of Harleys in the area. |

My X-father-in-law is a manager at a new Precision Bikeworks shop that is in Erie... I think with all the chopper TV shows some kids are becoming more intrigued by the chopper scene than the sportbike one... |
