Hello. My name is Adam and I'm new to the board and just picked up my new 2006 XB12Ss 2 Saturday's ago. I just put another 50 miles on it today so that brings the total up to just under 270, lol. The break-in period is the worst as I'm very meticulous about everything I own and have to wait til' 500 miles to be able to feel some real good torque and power out of it.

It's my first Buell so I'm worried about some sounds I'm hearing and whatnot. I had an 02' GSXR like 2 years ago and I know this is a completely different animal and I LOVE that! But I don't know of ANYONE who has another one that knows stuff about Buell's that I can compare the sounds too. =0( I'll drive within 30-45 miles from the Albany, NY area if somebody can let me compare the 2 bikes as far as sounds and whatnot just so I feel more at ease.

Also another thing I've noticed is that after the bike warms up (10 minutes or so) it seems that the RPM's take longer to go down then within the first few minutes of driving it (after letting it warm up and idle 30-60 seconds before I ride it at all to let the fluids go through everything). It this normal? I can take a video of both to show the comparison's if anyone has a cable modem and can d/l 2 30-40 meg videos of the 2 differences.

Thanks for reading this!

.Adam.

Adam,

PM sent.

I live outside of Albany, but work downtown. I had a slight accident in the driveway this afternoon (Damn gravel) and I am in need of a new clutch lever. Hopefully I will be able to locate one shortly and will be in Albany with my bike this thursday

Bob, great to put a face to the name, and thanks so much for the clutch lever, I will now be able to ride into the office tomorrow morning. I will give you a call tomorrow and we can look at meeting up to go for a ride.

Adam was nice meeting you also.

Definitly nice to meet both of you guys. Thanks for starting the bike Bob, now I'm gonna go buy an exhaust, haha. I'll have to look into the tail section to see what I can come up with. Maybe I can get one of the Bitz4Buells solo XB12S seats with subframe rails onto mine somehow. I'm sure it's doable. =0P

Mike: Sounds like a plan. I used to live in Wappingers, and have ridden down around Middletown, Hawks Nest, and back around the Pepacton Reservoir a bunch. once we get a nice weather on a weekend or even maybe one day after work. Also if you ever make it up this way, Could show you around.

I'd be down for going down there. I just gotta finish break-in first. I've got some other stuff to purchase after my credit card is paid off (end of May) then I can start putting money into the bike. I just got bike plus I dumped almost 3,000 into a new drum kit/rack/double pedal so I don't have too much to spend right now, haha.

Bob I will be going down to Bear Mt. I used to love riding there in college, it should be more interesting now as I am a much better rider than I was in college (was less of a squid).

Sorry I ditched you guys today. I got stuck at work late and then basically ditched everybody (including my brother). Since I was a bit stressed from work I took the long way home from Albany. So my 40 mile drive turned into 340 miles. I finally got home Around 1:15am, and I am a tad bit tired, and fairly cold (Just starting to thaw out now, was 38 at my house when I got home and felt even colder up in the mountains).

It's all good. I didn't meet up with anyone either I figure it'd be better to break-in my bike before I ride with anyone so you guys aren't staying behind because of me. Mind you I don't usually fly or anything anyways if that makes a difference?

Adam, well I will be on my cruiser for the next week. Waiting to bring the Lightning in for first service. That 340 mile jaunt, brought me right up to 1k : ) And for the record, I do not fly either. I don't think I broke 80 at all yesterday.
