So can a Uly Buell GPS be mounted on any other Buell model? I know the Uly has wiring built into the harness for the GPS. So whats needed to mount the unit on a Firebolt or Lightning model ? | ||

Hmm. Not sure on a bolt. Is there any room on the bars to get a bracket? I have a RAM Mount on my XB12S and it sits fine on the left side of the bars. I use it to mount a Quest 2. I don't have power run yet to it, but the GPS seems to run just fine off its internal battery. Take a look over in the Adventure board, there was a big thread on GPS over there with links to places for mounts, etc.. Plus some discussion about the Buell Branded GPS in relation to others. In the Aerostich catalog I saw a bracket for gps mounting that sits right in the steering stem bolt on sportbikes. You should check out their web site. | ||

It depends on how it mounts (I haven't seen one in person). I've got a Garmin 2610 mounted on my Firebolt - there's a small gap between the switch housing and the triple tree on the left handlebar - the u-bolt fits in perfectly.   | ||

If you ditch the stock mirrors for bar-ends, then the firebolt has some perfect, pre-drilled mounting points for things like GPS units. I've mounted my chatterbox receiver/transmitter to the spot were the stock mirrors were more than once. -Geof | ||

Hey Cruisin Do you have part numbers or model numbers on anything? I have access to the Buell GPS, for a great price. That mount is exactly what I need. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. | ||

Beachbuell - go to http://www.gpsdiscount.com and click on the Quest. Scroll down and you'll see the RAM mount ($32) and the motorcycle kit for power/audio ($49). It has a jack that you can plug any headset into. Then you just wire it in yourself. It's quick, it's easy. The Buell Quest is just a rebadged Garmin Quest...and you can buy it refurb'd for $299. I went with the StreetPilot 2610 - got a 2gb compact flash card and put the entire US detail on it - I never have to load maps again. | ||

This is a lightning, but it gives you ideas.    The Ram Mount that is the actual quest cradle is dirt cheap ($9 or something?) and very nicely done. I fabricated everything else on the cheap, more about that on another thread coming to a thread near you soon. The firebolt has an unused mirror hole in the master cylinder plugged with a plastic plug. I believe it is a 10mm 1.25 pitch thread. I could have mounted my Quest either on the right or left side, it did not really matter. I ended up on the clutch side so I could still cover the front brake even if I was putzing with the unit (err... while stopped on a hill trying not to roll backwards, not while moving of course). The wiring is a 12V regulator (which users of my speedo sensor filters will appreciate). I had one miswired one laying around that I never bothered to fix, and it did exactly what I needed.
