I am looking at buying a 2003 xb9s. The guy just bought it last year, so the warranty is still good for another week or so. Anyone know what it would cost to extend the warranty for at least another year? And if the warranty expires, can it be renewed at a later date?

This is the bike:

Thanks!

I believe the price will vary depending on the dealership you buy it at. IIRC it can be renewed after expiration at a higher cost. Give a holler to your local dealers, they should be able to give you specifics based on the year and mileage.

There are a couple different extended warranty prices that Harley or Harley affiliates offer. When I bought mine just a few months ago, the prices increased by about $500, no matter how long the term was and how many miles was on the bike. It was either you buy it at the low price when the bike was new, or you pay more after you owned the bike for a bit. Not sure the price varied beyond that.

Yeah, I knew the $7K was WAY too much. Most of them on ebay go for like $4k-$4500.

Superbee, I did see your bike, and it looks great. But I'm trying to find something stock, or easily returned to stock. For some reason, I like the cheese grater. I want to enjoy the bike stock for a while, then put my own spin on it. Plus, that one was in NC which is where I'll be moving shortly, so location was convenient.

Thanks for responses!

Mattl -- when you get to NC (or even now!!), look up Carolina Corner Carvers (C3) on Storm Fronts. We are from all over the state of NC.

We are from all over the state of NC.
And have been spotted in the Great North Georgia Mountains from time t time.
Great group of riders for sure.
A tight group of friends the C3 riders are.
You'd be doing yourself a dis-service not to join up with them.

And plan to be spotted there again!

Thanks - I think we have a pretty good group here considering our geographic issues!

Yup... $7K is too much. One of the dealers close to me has a new left over 05' and only wants $7200 for it. and it has ZERO mi on it with a full warranty.

I bought my XB12r with the 3 year extension for about $900, it's worth the peace of mind if you aren't planning on doing mods past a ECM and a pipe(e.g.-head work etc.), then the warranty is void. Wrecking an engine will cost loads more than that.

Called Tilley in Statesville, since that'd be my servicing dealer. Looks like a 1-year extension would be $684 and a 2-year would be ~$850. Not bad. Thanks for input everyone!

Ulywife, thanks for the invite, looked through your StormFronts section. Looks like a cool group. I have four kids, so some of the events your planning would be a blast. We'll be in Mooresville, but won't be there until mid to end of May.

Mattl -- We have some really neat people within C3. Several of us have children that enjoy riding with their Dad's. The C3 Jr. ride will be a first, so we'll play the rest by ear! You'll find that in NC we have great mountain roads and nice beaches. The C3 Group is talking about a weekend in Boone, still working on a date.

Best of luck on the move. Let us know when you get settled.

Mattl, Mooresville? Sweet we need some more Buelligans out here -- gotta keep the state balanced with the C3s continued growth ; )

I'm just a few miles west of Mooresville in the Pumpkin Center/Sherill's Ford area.

OK -- all of you in western NC, come over to C3 and lets talk about a trip to the mountains this fall. I'll start a thread in our adventure folder. Let's all meet up and have another C3 adventure!

Xb9ser -- sounds like a reasonable cause for emergency vacation. Sometimes your mental health depends on time like this!

Come on over to C3 and hang out with this crew. Check out the newest Adventure posted! It's starting already.
