G/day all
The other day my brother phone me to tell me a story.
It seems a guy he works with has a new Ulysses. Anyway this guy decided to take it for a ride so he stared it up and left it idling in the drive way while he went to get his jacket. When he came out it was lying on it’s side as the bolts on the stand snapped clean off. When he took in to the bike shop they told him that you are not meant to idle on the side stand. He ask why he was not told when he brought the bike and why it’s doesn’t say that in the manual then?

Not the first occasion that this has happened.

There is a long discussion on just this subject in the UK at www.ukbeg.com.
Search for Uly sidestand failure.

Happened to a few guys here, also. Check in the Big, Bad & Dirty (BadWeB Adventure Board). I've replaced my bolts and applied red loctite.

huh, so did Buell go backward in the design of the sidestand? didn't the '03 XBs have sidestand issues, then the bolt was upgraded or something and now the '06s are busting off? is it the higher stance/weight of the Uly or something all '06 owners should look into?

hmm. i've already had my '05 shake itself off the sidestand but now i think i'm going to take a closer look at that bolt too.

My 05 XB12S broke it's sidestand pivot bolt in the 3rd week.
The dealers in the area did not have any in stock, so I drilled it out (not hard metal at all) and put a grade 8 bolt through the middle. I put a nylock on the back side, locking the bolt in. The mod killed 2 birds with one stone, since drilling it meant removing the "idiot post" on the top of the bolt that is there to keep you from killing your self if you forget to retract the stand.
