I know HD has a mission statement, but does Buell have one. Could you just say they are the same since HD owns Buell?

So they aren't allowed to have a mission statement, because it may conflict with the mother ship?

That is a patently inaccurate statement.

Court,

Would it be fair to say Buell does whatever it can get the mothership to pay for?

>>>Would it be fair to say Buell does whatever it can get the mothership to pay for?

No, that'd be inaccurate as well.

Buell has a narrow window it needs to fit into to be a viable and profitable entity. New motorcycle companies are all but impossible to make work, witness the number of well financed failures.

Buell has a keenly honed strategy, focused market and good management. It's an art to maintain that focus, but it's essential to not loose sight of the "dance with the one who brung ya" thinking and do what you do very well.

Don't look for Buell to be trying to out speed, spend or advertise the foreign manufactures.

Buells mission is much more than a motorcycle.

Stick around, you'll see.

as a customer, I'm kinda glad that Buell doens't have a mission/vision/charter statement -- I'd rather see em designing and building bikes, doing long range R&D for their parent company --

I've never seen one of the aforementioned that communicated thought processes or attitudes in a manner better than is available by simply watching and listening to the employees of a company --

Buell is doing more for us in deeds than words.
Let's just keep/leave it that way.

"Buell's mission is much more than a motorcycle."

Let me guess... They're expanding into the fast food business? Or perhaps a micro-brewery?

"The Naked Truth" comes very close to a mission statement. Covers the who what and why.

They will expand into being the same as HD

A clothing company.

HD makes the majority of the profit off clothing.....They still make bikes in order to sell accesories

I LOVE my ULY....But if HD stopped sticking there name on overpriced chaps they would be gone in a year.

how about...

" We don't care how they do it in Japan "

or how about...

" When was the last time you rode something that was red, white and BLEW your mind "

or maybe this...

"that last curve wants it's virginity back"

I guess those really aren't mission statements, in professional terms, but they would look great on a poster with my bike on my garage wall.

Till next time, have a Buelltiful day

That's fun bar room talk. . . but take a look at the facts and you'll see that my stock, purchased in 1983, didn't get where it is today simply on shirts.

Harley-Davidson, in addition to being one of the best companies to work for in America, is one of the most successful. You have, in part, Kawasaki to thank for that.

Remind me to tell you sometime. . .

As a contractor for 33 years, I'd say that's a VERY accurate statement.

Revenue is easy; profit is the trick.

Am quite pleased with HDI's continued growth, but found a little irony in the annual report.

Does that mean we as Bueller's have been reduced from 3%'ers to 1.8%'ers.

I know it means nothing in the overall picture but this is the first I saw the numbers since the Stone Mountain BRAG Club selected their name.

Hope it doesn't go any lower as I would hate to be referred to as a 1%'er. Would like to keep that a reference to the MC Bad Boyz that did their hard time.

According to Buellgirlie's post, it seems that Buell took in only 2 million in revenue for FY 05 worldwide. Lets say a Buell averages about 10k a pop, does that mean Buell sold only 200 bikes last year, minus all the accessories and stuff. So in the end they sold less than 200 bikes worldwide? I must be reading it wrong.

Buell MC 93.1 million in revenue, you are looking at the other sales which generated 2 million in rev, this is probably the extended warranties everyone is purchasing.

93 million in revenue sounds like a lot but what where the expenses? Probably pretty close to the 93 but I did hear they made a profit this year.

Oops, I totally skipped down in mid-line. So a little less than 50x as much which equates to less than 10k Buells worldwide for the FY? Does that sound about right, that doesn't sound too bad? Just wondering now.

Well....for those of us who recall the whoopla when Buell hit $100,000 in a year, it sure sounds big.
