Just wondering if anyone with an XB has had a problem major enough to call for the warranty? My one year warranty will run out in June. Just wondering if "better safe than sorry" is reason enough to get the extended warranty? I plan on keeping the Bolt at least another year. I will probably only put 3-4K on it a year.

Hmmm 3-4 K a year--doubt you'll need it unless you plan on keeping it at least a decade.

Then again I rode a demo XB and blew it up in fifteen minutes.

If she lasts longer than fifteen minutes you'll be fine ...

I bought an extra 2 years for mine. There's quite a bit of debate about whether it's worth it or not, but I figure it's a brand new first model year bike. No matter how much testing they've done, there's bound to be something.

But then again, I may be wrong and wasted some $$. Ask me again in about 2.2 years. 8)

Hey....in terms of what you spent vs. the peace of mind....forget it, go ride and enjoy the motorcycle.

I bought the extended warranty. When I bought my bike, the salesman told me he could get would give me a lower interest rate if I bought the warranty (maybe b.s. maybe not). My payments only increased by about 5 bucks a month. I figured that was worth it to have the extended warranty over the life of the loan. I have the Harley extended warranty, so it makes you pay a 50 dollar deductible. The only problem I have had so far is a speedo sensor replaced under the regular 1 year warranty for free. I think that part is cost less the 50 dollar deductible.

The XB wheel bearings have a warranty or recall potential. Don't think that qualifies as major. I bought the 4 year extended warranty in case anything goes awry with this cutting edge technology. :) I think the peace of mind is worth the price.

I chipped in the extra dollars for the four year extension too. knowing that if I didn't get it, I would probably need it, And that if I did get it, I wouldn't need it .

Knowing also that history has shown, first year models (of most anything) usually have some kinks to iron out.

Glad and impressed that all is well so far.

Absolutely! I haven't been doing much more than the commuting thing lately and it's driving me nuts. Winter's nearly over <smirk> so I'll be spending more time in the saddle soon enough.

Just looking at the prices for the extended warranty. Since I didnt buy it when I bought the bike, 2 years will run me $569 and that includes the first year. So, $569 for a years worth...I think I just answered my own question! Thanks for the input anyway guys!

I am considering a 2003 XB9S. They have not been in Australia for very long and I do not know anyone who has a Buell. So in terms of reliability, how has the XB9S been? Anything I need to know before I buy, or should I buy?
