I have a '06 City X and when riding last weekend noticed the motor would hang at about 2-3000 RPM for a few seconds before returning to idle while downshifting coming to a stop. The bike has the Buell Race exhaust and ECM installed by my dealer on it. Any thoughts? Thanks

The idle is probably set too high.

How long ago was the Race ECM/exhaust installed? Did they reset the TPS? I would probably do a TPS reset just to make sure.

I would think that floating is due to the heavy flywheel or crank . When I come off the gas mine does the same thing . Does not bother me just the nature of the beast I suppose .

If your idle is set too high then it will hang up like that. Mine did the same thing after a scheduled mat. I just idled it down and all was good.

I HAD MINE DO THE SAME LAST YEAR. INSTALLED JARDINE AND K&N FILTER, RAN IT FOR LIKE 2 MONTHS THEN IT STARTED HANGING UP. I GOT MY TPS RESET AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE AFTER THAT. I DID TRY TO ADJUST THE IDLE BEFORE BRINGING IT IN FOR THE TPS. I WOULD CHECK IDLE..THEN TPS RESET IF THAT DIDN'T WORK...GOOD LUCK!

Thanks, I did set the idle up a tad when I took delivery of the bike in Feb.to make it start easier in cold weather, though it is idling at about 1200 RPM sitting still. I'll knock it back a bit and see what happens.

Dropping the idle speed to a little over 1000rpm on the tach. cured the same problem on my 9
