I have an xb9sx.Today as I was walking the bike into the garage I noticed the front brake is dragging.Is this normal? Last year when I dropped it parking the hand guard twisted and it turned the banjo enough to cause minor leak of the brake fluid.I tightened it and was lucky that it didn't suck air.Is this the cause of maybe the pads not retracting? Mine has done the same thing scince dayone with no percieved ill affects . later  | ||

Probably sticky pistons. Worth removing caliper, gently squeezing pistons out a little and clean up any crud on them before pushing back into the bores and refitting the pads. Of course it's entirely possible even new pistons can be a bit sticky. I'd want to get it sorted out personally. What's the point in dragging your brakes everywhere?  | ||

Change the MASTER CYLINER fluid "ONCE A YEAR" to eliminate these brake "PROBLEMS" !!! While empty, wipe out with a old t-shirt ... Like engine, trans., and front fork fluids it to gets old/dirty there by needs to be changed on a "PREVENTIVE MAINTANCE" schedule ... | ||

Alright there. How bad does it drag? Have you checked it with the tire off the ground? No- you don't have to go changing the fluid or any of that so don't worry about that. If it just slightly drags, it's fine. They all do that- that is how a disc works. If it drags with a fair bit of resistance, it might need to be cleaned as per shortie. the easy way to do it is to sqeeze the brake lever with the pads off, but not too far- only let the pistons travel out a little- 1/16 of an inch or so. clean it all with brake cleaner and scotchbrite or something similar, if need be and then reassemble. if it still persists, take it to someone who knows what they're doing. | ||

It is normal for them to drag. The tire should spin if you give it a turn, and it is off the ground, but the pads will touch the rotor and it will make some noise. | ||

I guess it's ok,it drags a little bit.There is no resistance as in i'a hard to push.But I will bleed it anyways to replace the few drops I lost when it leaked out of the banjo nut.I'm up for the first service anyways,might as well do all that brake related stuff.Thank you guys. Redster |
