I've got a new CityX which suffered from poor running from new, flat spot 2.5-4.5K, rough idle, backfiring etc. Complained many times to the dealer and was told to run it in and it would get better bla.. bla... I insisted that there was definitely something wrong with the fueling and the finally admitted that in order to pass EPA regulations the bike is set up really lean and to retard the ignition at certain speeds and RPM's to pass noise regulations. the said they could alter the FI to solve this I let them and the bike was returned running beautifully. So anyone in a similar position should insist the their dealer remove the automatic retard and richen up the FI. This was done for free and saved me having to buy a race kit. Hope this helps.

Our '06 Citx runs great. The only problem, is a Buell typical, occasional off idle stumble.

Sounds like it might be your TPS. Ever had it reset?

now that is some crazy dealer speak right there! i'd like to know what they actually did to your bike ;)

i'm with cataract, most likely they reset the TPS and checked your static timing. i would ask for specifics, sounds like a load 'a dealer crap to me. "remove the automatic retard" now that is a good one. hahaa. i think i would have taken that as a personal insult if my dealer said something like that to me. hahaa.. .

I agree Typeone, however they insisted that in order to pass noise regs in Europe the ignition is retarded when the throttle is opened at certain speeds. Anyway, clearly it wasn't running properly and it now is so I am happy, retarded or otherwise
