As far as the XB power goes. Everyone who has one likes the bike. But almost without exception the owners also wish it had more power. Ask the folks at ATC or Sporttwin, or perhaps they arent credible either?

You got that right; damn Buell owners!

No different than my riding partner spending $5K on his Bandit 1200, now a true street sleeper. He has a turbo and some high zoot kit on the way for his new Hayabusa. All 3 of his KLR's have the standard KLR "hop me ups" and we were laughing last week that the KLR I just sold for $3,750 left my house with better than half the sale price in front end suspension and brake mods. Damn motorcyclists!

Court (sitting here feeling bad about the mods to the Ford F-250, Woz buying some new HD F-150 with a Turbo and the fact that I insisted the dealer install a chip and exhaust system in the new car I ordered last week...damn car owners! :) )

Imonabuss:

WTF is up with that comment? When have I ever said that someone is not credible? I haven't read that article, I have read three other ones, though. You found an example where the rider thought the bike was perfect; very cool. Doesn't take away from my point that the bike has been getting critized in the major magizes.

BTW, I AM a racer.

Eeeek,

Bottom line, talented riders think the bike is great, squids don't. Could it use more power? Sure, there's never enough. Does it have enough power to be a wickedly fast backroad bike, and the right kind of power to be really fun and forgiving? Absolutely.
Not only Roadracing World, but also Motorcycle Online, who proved the bike to be faster on their favorite twisty canyon road than an R1 or an RC-51.
And the British magazine Superbike, who were astounded that the bike was over a second faster around Valencia than the CBR600F4...in the hands of a rider who is fast enough to drag his elbows on the ground.
And Cycle World, where the only sportbike in their best sportbike comparison to beat the XB9R around their track was a CBR600F4, by a couple of hundredths of a second.
Bottom line - could it use more power?...sure for bragging rights. Is it slow?...No.

In my honest opinion, the bike needs more power. LOTS more. I ride backroads, racetracks, sweepers, tight twisties, freeways, etc. The lil' bike didn't do it for me. Does that make me a squid?

Does the widdle iddy biddy lil' SV need more power too? ohwell

Hey bub, you ain't a racer if you don't read Road Racing World and Motorcycle Technology. ;) Seriously, it is an OUTSTANDING source of information for racers and sport bike enthusiasts. Their bike and equipment reviews will blow you away. VERY objective unlike some other moto rags. I believe that is what Imonabus was alluding to.

The racer that reviewed the XB for RRW, Michael Hannas, I think he finished on the podium more than a few times in AMA 250 GP Nationals. You wouldn't be equating yourself to him now would you? ;) I mean come on. You complete one race and are declaring "I AM a racer". Everything is relative.

Buellblastrider,
Please do not direct BadWeB users to yahoo groups. There are more Buell riders here than anywhere on the web, and we don't plague you with countless popups and unrelated banner ads. Thanks for supporting your friendly BadWeB... grassroots, not for profit, entirely supported by Buell enthusiastic sponsors.

Heck no, Blake, I suck; but, I am a racer. For me, I like more power on the street and less power on the track. If I took my 954 racing, I'd have to push it to its limit, which, don't want to do. While racing, I'd rather push the SV to its limit. While riding the street, I like to have plenty in reserve.

good one bubba! lol

Received one of those e-mails from buell.com and they do refer to as the 'Lightning® Low XB9S'. Does have a better ring to it than XB9S Low.

Did also notice a new nation selector for the Buell site, but they're missing Australia there too. hummm....

Eeeek,

You are clearly a beginning racer. Once you really learn to ride, you will find you want the power on the track, not on the street. So, yes you are a squid...but you are evolving!!!
