After I'm riding for a while (about 30-45 min), when i stop the rpm's seem to stay about 2 grand, i try to let the clutch out and bog it down to 1050, but it goes right back up. Is this normal for a XB12R with 900 miles?

check your idle, only adjust the screw in hairline increments. the XBs are very sensitive to idle adjustments. thats the first plan of attack at least ;) chances are you'll solve it with a little adjustment.
