2004 XB12R, the front motor mount is held in by a bolt, above the bolt is a big steel washer and I think a thin rubber washer same diameter, then about 1/2" of bare steel (the bolt shank I guess), then the mount which has rubber inside it. Is there supposed to be something in the gap? If it's gone, is anything else likely to be bad? Any danger to the bike? What could have caused the loss of rubber? Yeah I know it may be normal but it sure looks odd to me. Just worried and it's Sunday night and no way to go view a new one to compare. Thanks in advance.

its prob OK, hard to tell without a pic but the front mount is kinda strange looking if youre not familiar. if it looks like its 'floating' in there with space above and below, its perfectly fine. search the archives for 'front motor mount' or something similar and you will find pics of damaged ones. mine blew out pretty quickly.

OK thanks, I guess I ought to call the dealer to see if he has any rubber. Need an appointment anyway, figured I'd get my 5000 mile service early, since it's a used bike, and get tires put on, just mail ordered, and probably give the computer amnesia just to get a fresh start and get the bike used to my kind of puttering-around riding.
